How are the Intel driver improvements? Are they still getting better or have they plateaued over the last few months?

Sorry no link, I read something sad yesterday. intel appears to be scaling back battlemage and it is running late. This may be the final discreet cards.

I do not understand why some Intel graphics card haters post here. The most difficult stage of product development is the 1st generation card. After that, it's smooth sailing for future generation cards. Intel could easily shift GPU production to their own fabs at any time. Both Nvidia and AMD are beholden to TSMC for GPU production.

As consumers we need Intel as the 3rd wheel in the GPU market. On a side note, I have no idea what AMD is doing on the GPU front. AMD could have gained a ton of market share vs. Nvidia with aggressive pricing on RDNA 2 cards and RDNA 3 cards.

I think the original releases were very offputting. The drivers have supposedly improved a lot, but only in DirectX and Vulkan. A lot of people still play DirectX 9 games which Intel seems to be a disater at and DirectX 11 which seems to fare better.

I agree have a third option is great. As for AMD, you and others keep saying that, but low info buyers were all buying 1050 Ti's over RX 580's and RTX 3050's over RX 6600's that were both cheaper and performed way better. It seems this generation AMD just said "screw it" and is not offering much more value because people didn't care.

Of course they shot themselves in the foot with the 7900 XT launch price, but it is an attractive buy now.

My hot take is that the graphics team has done a good job of picking their battles. Fixing CS:GO for instance. It's the most played on the service. They seem to go after any game that gains traction as a complaint. Some of us were joking? not really? they fixed Assassin's Creed Syndicate for Rich over at digital foundry. 😂

Most older games are reliant on the user being knowledgeable enough to use DXVK. Even for popular AAA DX11 titles. Some just suck on ARC. Watch Dogs 2 for example. Hopefully Gandalf doesn't rely on rebar so they can sell to the ultra budget office PC to gaming PC crowd. It needs to have better support for older APIs too. Oh, and a hotkey for recording already. GOSH! :p

Agreed and I have been saying this for years now. intel gets crapped on in this space needlessly. Sure the drivers weren’t awesome at release but they got better rapidly. Today these cards are a viable option as shown by @DAPUNISHER
Personally I hope mid 24 we see a battlemage release that is priced comparatively and offers good performance. I want a new monitor& card dammit.

All of the Orange Box games work without DXVK. They are all locked at 50fps though. I consider them as having passed as they play perfectly fine. I will have to look into why the fps is capped there. The TV refresh is 60.

Gotham Knights has improved a lot since the terrible state it was in at release. However, it is far from fully optimized. I could not get a locked 1080 60. I think the Ryzen 5600 is partly responsible. I was getting some performance drops using a 5800X@5GHz boost with a RX 6800 at 1080. The drops went away when I swapped for the 5800X3D.

I settled in at very high settings ray tracing on. XeSS on quality. Fidelity FX sharpening on 3. Capped the FPS at 45. Plays very smoothly and I would have no complaints finishing the game this way.

-Ehhh shouldn't the orange box games all be running at 200+FPS at this point?

Capped at 50 is far from OK for those relics...

Excellent! Can you check if there is an fps increase with HT turned off?
This version has an option for multicore rendering. The pic is from Episode 2; it's at the frame cap. I used the console command to set it to 1000fps. I get very near it with MSAA off. With 8x MSAA -

A quick update on the reboot problems I was experiencing where it reset CSM in the UEFI.

I returned the 5600 to stock boost, and connected ARC directly to the TV. No issues since. I am going to try adding the +200MHz boost again and see if that was the problem, now that the Onkyo is out of the equation. I don't think it was driver related as it happened with WHQL and beta drivers previously.

Grid 2 is another game you should try. They still have an online game play crowd out there. Grid 2 used to be part of the GPU testing bed of games for years.

Overbuilding the A750 like that instead of the A770 16GB is just plain moronic.
Sparkle doesn't have a 16GB model that I'm aware of. Are we certain they will even have one for the A series?

I don't share your opinion about the design choice either. The LE is also overbuilt, but the Sparkle will be far easier to service later. ASRock and Acer have their own premium versions of 8GB models too. Like other brands they are able to reuse the cooler. Probably going to be used on Gandalf B series as well.

Maybe look at the premium build quality and brace as being like the difference between a Toyota and Lexus? :p

Sparkle has an A770 coming with the 3 fan layout like the Arc A750 above. There is also a water cooled ARC A770 coming from Sparkle. It's nice to see Intel has a high quality partner in Sparkle. Obviously, the Sparkle A770 cards will be 16GB. It would be nice to see an ARC A750 with 16GB of vram. A 24GB A770 would make sense considering how cheap memory is today.

I'll switch to my ARC box, get this new stuff installed and play some games. Excited about the claimed DX11 improvements. If Watch Dogs 2 can do 1080 60 locked with higher settings that'll be a big win, since DXVK isn't an option.
