Everything rides on 18A and CF. If those are delayed or fail to meet expectations then Intel leadership is done for a long while.

By then who knows what will happen

Intel’s new leadership is looking to further rein in spending that had significantly increased the last few years. Also sounds like the strategy of flooding the channel with product is over and Intel will cut back production and expenses to meet demand.

This is really good news for AMD market share in the client space. Other than that, only time will tell what Intel can actually do to turn themselves around.

Their server market could also stand a boost and always, but is looking good right now. AMD may have a chance at that 50/50 share before Intel gets back on their feet.

I think this is OK news for the future. First face reality, then they need to start restructuring for the long slog ahead. RIP the old Intel, hello to the new.

If Intel aren't going to crank out wafers to flood the channel, it definitely needs to commit to spinning off its fabs then, or else those fabs are going to be even further from running at capacity than they already are.

Give me whoever many millions in stock options he likely went out the door with I'll cheer for your company after you fire me too!
He should have sold it all the day he got fired if he believed in himself

Maybe he thinks he will be vindicated if/when 18A is a success?
He actually likes Intel. It is not too surprising for person who worked at the same company for 30 years and eventually was CEO. Do we really think he seems mercenary?

Praying for the people you worked with a long time doesn't seem that unusual. Especially if you suspect the board is short-sighted.

But it's also Pat, he doesn't have an entirely grounded view of what Intel can do anymore.
Yeah. He got pretty behind in deep technical CPU related knowledge (and lost a fair number of brain cells) during his stints as CEO after leaving Intel.

If he believes in 18A, why would he sell it?

Get premium customers who are able to charge a lot more per sq mm of silicon than Intel can - market wanted to see those to believe high costs of fabs will be paid for.

Totally fanciful idea because I can't see TSMC losing high end customers who have pre-paid their new fabs already.

Dual sourcing for Arrow Lake could have propped up IFS's reputation that they can sustain volume products on Intel 3 or 20A. But they failed at it and relying solely on TSMC N3B just made them look super bad and unreliable.

Hopefully the new ex-ASML board member will try to get the foundry issues sorted out ASAP or sell it off. At this point, things are so bad that only quick decisions can change the course of Intel's trajectory. No time left for any long term decision making until they are stable again.
