In a Nov. 6, 1971 interview with WRC-TV, he recalled that the protesters had decided to "renounce the symbols which this country gives . . . the medals themselves." When the interviewer asked, "How many did you give back, John?" he answered: "I gave back, I can't remember, six, seven, eight, nine." The interviewer noted that Kerry had won the Bronze and Silver Stars and three Purple Hearts. Kerry: "Well, and above that, I gave back my others."

Throwing back military medals is like spitting on America. I dont care if he was young and dumb. I dont care if it was the cool thing to do. And there is much more controversy to him "earning" medals which extends far beyond the swiftboat scandal.

You can read part of it here http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-lips27.html

I know a lot of people who have been in a lot worse sh1t then that who never got squat for a medal.

Read some of JLGatsby and Metron's posts in OT. Btw, I cant be someone that Just I dislike. It takes a group consensus. Jerboy would be on the list if he were still around.

HEY MOD CAN YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO POST PROPAGANDA WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF PROOF?
I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT OPINION POSTS. I AM TALKING ABOUT POSTS LIKE THIS ONE WITHOUT ONE SHRED OF PROOF. JUST LIKE THIS GUYS OTHER POST YOU BANNED ABOUT TARGET BEING SUPPOSEDLY ANTI-MILITARY WHICH TURNED OUT TO HAVE NO PROOF AND SEEMED RELATED TO A SMEAR CAMPAIGN AGAINST TARGET.
THANK YOU.

Why aren't you in Iraq, eh?

People use that argument a lot. Do you support the Afghanistan campaign? Did you join the military for that after 911? What about the 1st Gulf War, the Balkans conflict, Somalia, etc.

I don't know if you supported those, but if so, you should be asking yourself the same question regarding those conflicts.

Listen smart@ss, he (along with glenn1) suggested that I should take sandwiches to the staving tots instead of free lunch if I supported it. I gave it back to him in his own medicine.

:cookie: for you.

The 400 billion dollars spent on that sh!thole would have paid for "free lunch" for the starving tots for 80 years. :cookie: to the OP too!

However there are several reasons we went to war. Fighting this war on radical islam invovled stabilizing a democracy in the middle east. Plus Saddam was already a known tyrant, so there's two good reasons we're in Iraq now. Any sort of perceived threat (no matter how doubtful) about weapons of mass destruction and links to the organization that has already commited an act of war on our country is reason enough to get things started. These later proved to be false.

Again, tell me where Bush lied?

Like I said, you might find him a disgrace to the military for his post-war actions, that's entirely your opinion. That doesn't change the fact that he acted heroically during the war and earned his medals (both his bronze and silver stars). The purple hearts might have been a free ticket home for him, I don't know. And since you've gone behind enemy lines with a bow and arrow with screw-on explosive tips, a mullet, and a red bandana, I know you've seen stuff that's more amazing than what he ever did without getting a reward. But that's what happens when Richard Crenna rescues you from a prison camp and sends you on an unofficial mission.

BTW, nice work taking out that Hind with a bazooka.

Now that was movie making! Great scene with the Hind-24. And for the record, it wasn't a Bazooka, it was a LAW72 (light anti-tank weapon model 72). And Stallone didn't really have a mullet, it was more of a feathered glam look.

Edit: Yo Adrian!

I can't believe this b.s. thread is still open.
Apparently you can now just make things up or post things with no links, nor proof, etc.
I am going to have a field day!!!

John McCain is a war hero. John Kerry is a shame to the military service. He put his crew in danger to "earn" his medals, which he put himself in for (which nobody does), and then promptly threw back.
What is your postion on George Bush's military service career?

This letter is just pap.

"Our cause is noble." Why? If it's noble to spend hundreds of billions of American dollars and thousands of American lives fighting for the freedom of another country, then I guess this soldier advocates that as soon as we're done with Iraq, we should immediately invade another country that's not free, to keep the "nobility express" on track. Even better, let's right now invade ALL countries that lack freedom. The more unfree countries we invade, the more "noble" our cause, right?

Complete nonsense.

Hey buddy...is anti-american terrorism a threat? Is establishing a democracy in an anti-american unfree country not a good idea? That right there is nailing two birds with one stone...freeing Iraqi's and helping to setup a democracy that is pro U.S.A. That makes easier access for afghanistan, Iran, etc. Do you know how long we've had a plan ready to invade Iraq?

1) Iraq's connections were extremely limited, especially compared to other countries like Iran.

2) If they do finally make it to democracy, there's no reason to assume they will be pro U.S.A. That's the point of a democracy - to make up your own damn mind. If you want a pro-U.S.A. government, go set up a dictatorship.

When I spoke with them they said they really meant to say Fascism. Seems all those "isms" are confusing.

Using this as a reference. Here

I think he was afraid of dying which is why he joined the Guard. I think that he fully fullfilled his national guard duty. Of course I dont know what an Air Guard unit was like in the 70's but of course he didn't do anything special. He was a trained pilot whos unit apparently never got called up for action.

I guess my position on Bush's service record is that it was lackluster. There were no ups or downs in it. It came, went, and passed, and then he was discharged.
