Obviously the legitmacy of such a letter is always up to debate; anonymous letters from the front lines that basically outline every single conservative talking point and magically appear in the right-wing blogosphere always are up for that kind of criticism. Personal, I think this started out as a legitmate letter with a few things added (that sheehan comment sounded a bit too bitter compared to the rest of the letter... probably inserted, but then again, what do I know)

1. "
Ironically you will find the biggest outcries of opposition to our cause from those who have had no military experience and haven't had to fight for freedom."

John Kerry is a war hero. John McCain is a war a is hero. Sen. Murtha is a war hero. George W. Bush was a war-dodger.

2."
Ladies and gentleman I ask you this. What if you lived in a country that wasn?t free? What if someone told you when you could have heat, electricity, and water? What if you had no sewage systems so human waste flowed into the streets? What if someone would kill you for bad-mouthing your government? What if you weren?t allowed to watch TV, connect to the internet, or have cell phones unless under extreme censorship? What if you couldn?t put shoes on your child?s feet? "

IIRC, basic human services were just fine under Saddam. They were all screwed up when we went in (which is understandable) but still haven't been put back on track (unacceptable)

3.
"Saddam was no better than Hitler! He tortured and killed thousands of innocent people. We are heroes over here, yet American?s badmouth our President for having us here. "

the concept of "evilness" is obviously going to up for debate, but in general, you can pin damn near 30,000,000 deaths on Hitler and Hitler alone. You won't even find 1/10th of that with Saddam. Plus Hitler invaded our allies instead of just sitting there. (Kuwait doesn't count, Iraq invaded, we responded, we won)

I'm glad he's happy...still doesn't justify the war built on a lie. Always searching for a justification......

:music: Searching....searching.....searching......we will keep on searching.... :music:

As you backed up glenn1 in your free lunch thread on the idea that I should be handing out sandwiches to the tots, why aren't you on the front lines in the Army helping the Iraqis? eh?

Curious. What is the definition of lying? It's simply not false statements. It's stating something that you clearly know is untrue with intent to decieve. So I hope somebody can clear up what this war built on a lie is supposed to mean.

I'm pretty sure his name was omitted for privacy issues.

What privacy issues are there. He isn't bashing the commander and chief, leaking classified information, or anything serious.

Okay but where are the facts leading to unquestionable doubt of George Bush and his administration clearly knowing Saddam didn't have WMD?

If you copy and paste the link thats right below the article, his name is in the original. Nice try Mr. I'll flame anything that doesn't match up with my beliefs.

"After checking with his commander regarding OPSEC, you?ll be glad to know that SGT Walter J. Rausch has authorized anyone to send his letter to whomever they see fit in helping to get his word out."

Who is the hack now? Looks like its you.

Air Assault! (I wonder if I've met this guy)

Starting with Powell knowing it was fabricated and still have the speech..

Following the speech, Powell marched into his office and told his chief of staff...

"I wonder how people are going to feel when we drop 1/2 million troops into Iraq, march from one end of the country to the other, and find NOTHING!?"

The books were cooked son. You won't open your eyes to acknowledge it since guys like you support @sshole Bush no matter what he does.

By the way, when are you going to stop asking Congress to spend my money on Iraq and it's rebuilding when you could volunteer to help in the process yourself?

John Kerry is a war hero. John McCain is a war a is hero.

John McCain is a war hero. John Kerry is a shame to the military service. He put his crew in danger to "earn" his medals, which he put himself in for (which nobody does), and then promptly threw back.

I cant check snopes right now, its blocked at work. Not to say that this version or what snopes says is 100% true. And for the fact that there are different "versions", its the internet, people can manipulate it however they want. Thats obvious, and not really debateable.

I was just saying that there was a name attached.

Edit - I could write a letter saying pretty much the exact same things about Afghanistan, and people here would deny it regardless. I'm sure when I head to Iraq in August I'll have positive and negative things that I observe, and I'm sure I'll speak somewhat about it online.

Right and as we all know there was a LOT wrong in the intelligence reports and a lot of people involved in the administration including Colin Powell were doubtful of any of the information. However there are several reasons we went to war. Fighting this war on radical islam invovled stabilizing a democracy in the middle east. Plus Saddam was already a known tyrant, so there's two good reasons we're in Iraq now. Any sort of perceived threat (no matter how doubtful) about weapons of mass destruction and links to the organization that has already commited an act of war on our country is reason enough to get things started. These later proved to be false.

Again, tell me where Bush lied?

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, Wolfowitz, rest of PNAC crowd pushed WMD doctored intelligence through the system to scare the people and congress. Do you really think that the PNAC bullcrap would have passed the smell test in congress for authorization if the WMD "LIE" wasn't pushed? It was a big ole lie.

Why aren't you in Iraq, eh?

Everything the bastard bush said in my previous linked video was a lie and he goddamn well knew it too!

If one were to believe the Swiftboat Liars (who started off as paid hacks of Nixon's to smear Kerry.)

It suprises me that the American people, by in large, today still doesn't know that the Vietnam War spilled over into neighboring countries like Laos and Cambodia. Of course, the policy at the time was to deny it.

While is post-war conduct is easily up for debate; what you do after a war does not in any way negate whether you did something heroic DURING the war. Hell, that somolia vet that got charged with child molestation is still a war hero by deffinition. As far as heroic actions of Kerry, while his bronze star and purple heart medals might be debatable, the silver star isn't. None of the SBVT people were there during that event. At all. Kerry chased down a viet cong with a LOADED MISSILE LAUNCHER, killed him, and brought the launcher back. How does that endanger his crew? I'd be happy to have one less missile launcher out in the jungle. Like I said, don't use his post-war conduct to discredit is during-war activities. It just doesn't make sense..
