INQ challenges NV and ATI to run 1170 hours continuous load

after seeing that comical ATI presentation which for me made ATI sound more desperate that the apparent desperateness ATI were trying to highlight with NV, the INQ has challenged them both to run 1170 of continuous 3d load......since ATI claim the upped voltages in order to maintain 550Mhz on the GTX512 will be its downfall

apparently ATI's answer to the 512 is that powerpoint joke and a new bios that bumps the x1800xt to 700Mhz core

also

its appears that Nvidia themselves actually have no problem with meeting demand for the G70 chips that appear on the 512mb version of the card, the problem lies with the Samsung ram modules

the new 1.1ns 144pin memory modules havent been in production all that long and NV is limited to supplying only 4000 cards a week world wide.

about 50 days continuous load? might be cool to see but wouldnt it be more like watching which one blows up first instead of which card makes it?

Why? My P4 2.6@3.2ghz on 1.60 V from 1.44 stock voltage has been under 100% load since June 2003 (SETI@Home, +/- some days here and there). You think graphics cards are that unreliable?

Well, Nvidia did choose that ram module for the 512, so they knew that it was going to be hard to provide. If they went with a little less bandwith, they might have been able to supply more cards for a little less performance.

Btw, I think ATI's cliam is fud :)

Both companies should STFU and only speak when they want to announce a Product. We shouldn't pay any attention to what they say when they say it. Just wait for Anand or someone's Reviews and talk about stuff then.

i think thats the inquirer's point they seen ATI's banter and even said they are disgusted,..and thats what brought on the challenge to both company's to step up

i honestly believe ATI seriously needed to keep a poker face through this gen,..and its disapointing they didnt,..but thats another topic in itself

That challenge is amazing!

Video card companies...sigh...it's amazing how silly they get sometimes. What's even better is the hilarious comments about their actions, such as the "we challenge you!" one.
