As much as I love my 27" display, it does not go without faults. I can feel the infamous input lag like many others. I don't know exactly how bad this it is, but it is definitely there.
After much research and testing, I decided to experiment. First of all, 16:10 runs much quicker on my display than 16:9. For example, 1280x800 > 1280x720. I am not sure as to why this is. Another thing to take note of is VGA vs DVI. I notice no difference between the two inputs. If anything, the DVI may be slightly faster. Please also note that having a high end mouse does help! At the time of my LCD purchase, I was using the wireless Logitech MX1000 which was basically unuseable. I then bought a Razer Copperhead. As I expected, it was much less noticeable. I think it has to do with the 1000hz polling rate and the 2000dpi.
This really became apparent to me when I purchased an RCA 52" WD HDTV hooked up via DVI. It has that instant response that I miss in FPS games. I'd like to take the time to make some room on the AT forums for suggestions regarding input lag and LCD owners.
I'll start with some questions,
Does anyone think having a DVI Monster cable would help this input response time at all?
At what size display (eg: 19" 21" 23" 24" etc) does input lag seem to be eliminated?
If us LCD owners were to upgrade performance for input lag, what monitor is recommended?
Thanks for your time,
Sean
