not exactly slow

but not the fasting thing either

if you want speed get a C5 / STi/ Mustang GT/ Cobra

if you are willing to spend the price of a new G35 coupe + twin turbo kit + installation you are almost headed into M3 territory (base in high 40's)

if you really want to get serious just get a C6 Z06 which is a basically a 65K supercar

I'm not a fan of the mustangs but STis are certainly fast and the C6 Z06 while kickass is probably not what this guy is going for since he's looking at a 4 door sedan.

The M3 is a possibility but that body styling is just SO plain jane. The C5 and Mustangs are not of interest to me. They're a bit on the WT side of things.

Fast cars are the Debil! If I had one, I'd be getting speeding tickets all the time. (No self-control)

If want anything faster for the money you'll be looking at an STi/Evo, Mustang GT, or GTO. The G isn't exactly a slouch, I wouldn't call it fast though either. Quick yes.

M3 is a beautiful car but if you are into riced out cars I guess it isn't for you - why look at legacy GT but not STi?

it is not slower than a WRX. STock LGT's are capable of 13.9 quarter miles (rare, but a number of people have done) -- easily low 14's though. A legacy will outpull a WRX every time.

plus, a 600 dollar ECU reflash and you've got a 290hp / 305ft/lbs monster on your hand. (the beauty of a turboed car.)

I said I'm also looking at the STi. I'm not really into the riced look at all. I used to LOVE the m3. I mean I used to have dreams about the car. But for some reason the love has just worn off. I dont find it as attractive. I've driven one and it was a GREAT handler, I mean I had that BMW saleswoman wetting the seat bc I was going about 130 down the highway and zig zagging all over. As far as being a drivers car, the M3 is up there. I am just kind of sick of that boxy style that hasnt changed in 10 years.

ECU reflash? What is that exactly? What kind of place does this?

a couple manufactures offer it -- personally i recommend the AP by cobb tuning. (they send you the programmer, you plug it into your OBD-II port and can reflash the ECU in your driveway... many custom 'maps' available too)
http://cobbtuning.com/legacy/power-s.html#stage1

this is what i have on my car and i have dyno graphs that show the improvement.

to get an idea of what the legacy is faster than, or slower than -- check out:

For the legacy GT and STI and wrx and forester www.cobbtuning.com sells ecu reflashes. Which are basically updated parameters for ure engines computer which increases HP and TQ.

You can do it yourself with a handheld device or u can go to a tuning shop that does ECU reflashes for subarus i.e cobb protuner.
I.E The cobb stage 2 power package gives u 350 hp and 385lb tq using 93 oct fuel.
this includes an ecu reflash and a full turboback exhaust.

Legacy GT stage 2 is 305hp and 345/b torque.

Both have stage 1 which is just the ecu reflash.

If you don't like the STi wing you can do what a lot people do (including myself) find a WRX the same color as your car who wants the cop magnet and trade trunks plus $. You make out with a few extra bucks and are rid of the cop magnet.

kar?

I would think a guy who drives a viper would know how to "speel" :-D

Anyways... its not hard to install u plug it under your dash, follow the instructions, attach a connecter under the dash and your set.

If u can hookup a vcr to a tv u can hookup an accessport to your car.

i've got a legacy gt - the cobb accessport (ecu reflasher) is insanely easy to use.

you literally plug it in, and press the 'program' button and you are good to go. (well, maybe 2 more steps, but it's very easy, and tons of support available)

What kind of 0-60 times can you pull down?

You can re-map the WRX too...

I was just reading that the 2005 G35 got an 18Hp boost! WOO 298 ;). I'm guessing its at about 5.6 or 7 rather than the 5.8 @ 280.

i've never tested this personally - but i've seen people get anywhere from 4.8s to 5.3s (timing using a g-tech)

I've seen many people get 5.4seconds stock. (couple magazines as well)

I won't go into too much detail about how retarded your assumptions are, based on the fact that you haven't even driven the car yet. Besides, with that sentence alone I've said enough.

But to answer your question, yes there are tons of aftermarket parts for it. You can Turbo or keep it NA. Take a look around the net, everything you see for the Nissan 350Z will bolt right on to the G35 as well. Assuming its the coupe, otherwise the exhaust and other things may be different if you go with the sedan.
