Evil all the way. I always play evil on my first playthroughs. Thunder dropping into those "heal the people" side missions is hilarious and never fails to satisfy.

For the boss:
Are you talking about the Bertrand fight? I just got to the flooded city as well but haven't hunted for shards yet, and I thought that battle was ridiculously easy. Backpeddle away from him and wait for him to expose a weak spot, shoot, repeat. Unless you are talking about a different one I haven't gotten to...

I tend to silence them by hurling cars or dumpsters at them.

And yes, the Bertrand fight. It was very easy. I died a couple times, but that was because I accidentally dropped a car on my head or something stupid like that. Even the final boss fight in the first one is easy enough to do it on the first try. Maybe I'll switch it up to hard.

Just finished the last "evil spot" on the first island. It is now 100% good, and so is my Karma. Just need to do the mission to open up the second one...that large fight was killer. This game is so much fun.

If you change your filters to (going off the top of my head here)

Famous
All Time
All
Local

That should add it to your map on the east side of the southeast of the four main islands. I haven't checked in a while though, so it may have been bumped off the list. It's called "Easy Level for the Trophy ;)" if there's a way to search.

Could never find it. Wish I could search by title or something, but no dice as of yet. I don't think there's a way to send levels to friends over PSN either, but I may be wrong.

Anyway, the game is definitely a blast. I just unlocked/"powered up" the 2nd area you can get to. I've been doing side missions fairly regularly as well as hunting for shards and dead drops. It's also hard to not just screw around at times. I like hurling cars across the map, or try and see what the physics engine will do under certain circumstances.

While I was pushing cars around I happened to jump on one right when it was blowing up. It jettisoned me WAY higher than would ever be possible, and it had to have been some weird physics glitch as I didn't feel any damage from the blast either. I went so far that I was beginning to think the game broke and that I wasn't going to stop flying  But I reached the peak of my jump right as the city faded from view and Cole's animation did some odd things... then I thunderdropped my way down. I got the trophy for "thunderdrop from the highest point in the city" :D

I do feel that the power switching it a little cumbersome though, and a bit unnecessary. In the first one you unlocked the power where if you get a headshot the enemy explodes... and then from then on this happens whenever you get a headshot. Or if you wanted to do a long shot you just held up on the d-pad(IIRC) and it zooms in. Now you have to equip the specific headshot or longshot bolt to get that to happen. I kind of wish things were better streamlined like the first game and not an either/or type thing. Or at least make it a little smoother than pausing the game and cycling modes to get what you want. That's really my only complaint.

Finished the game today with the evil ending. I definitely enjoyed it a lot and am going back through on hard to be good.

Press left on the d-pad, then it brings up a menu with all your abilities. From there you can cycle through them to pick what you want. No pausing necessary, and it only takes a second.

After last weeks craziness, I finally had some time to sit down with this game over the weekend. It feels really good to be back in the inFamous universe again, and all the tweaks and additions are welcome.

When I started the game I said to myself "ok just relax, don't worry about the main story stuff for now, lets just do all the side missions and grab all the collectibles and have fun"--and so that's what I did.

The carrier pigeons are more interesting than the satellite dishes from the first and the shards are still fun (and rewarding) to pick up.

I really enjoyed the first, and I'm glad to see the changes they've made are for the better.

That's what I meant. When you press left it pauses the game, and you have to cycle in one direction to get to your power. It's not a big deal, but IMO it's clunkier than it used to be. At least for the longshot and headshot bolts... the other ones make sense to be toggled, but these would be better if they were always on once unlocked.

I agree. I collected all 305 on my evil playthrough and now that I've started my hard good playthrough I'm collecting them again and I don't mind one bit.

Do those 305 count the ones you get from defusing bombs or taking down pedestrians? I wasn't sure how that worked since you can ignore those, or even blow up the bomb yourself to be evil. I would think that even though it blew up that shard wouldn't be lost forever, but who knows.

I'm actually not sure, and I was wondering that, too. I think there may just be a set amount of bomb/stolen shards that happen randomly. I bugged out a couple of the bombs and didn't get the shards from them but still got all 305, so they must respawn if you miss them.

I was wondering the same. I've lost a few from the pedestrians because they end up landing in deep water that kills you instantly when you step in it. Although I'm doing an evil play through, I defuse the bombs to collect the shard, and then turn and kill the police officer that was inspecting it.

Only have about 50 shards left to collect, and I think I'm getting pretty close to the end. Just did the mission where
you shoot The Beast with the missile, but it obviously doesn't kill it.

Finished it up last night with the evil ending.

I was really hoping to get the chance to play as the beast, and just level the entire city. I was also kind of surprised that there wasn't any huge boss fight or something like that. It just kind of seemed to end.

I got kind of burnt out on it, so I'm going to take a break from it for a while before I go back through and do the good ending. Does anybody else feel like this one was a bit shorter than the first one?

Finished the good ending. What a game. Everything I expected, my 2011 GOTY.

Need to finish up a few thing and then start my evil ending. I felt the game was plenty long, but I did every side mission. The map is also larger IMO.

Would you guys recommend finishing the first game before picking up the 2nd one?

Personally, I would recommend playing through the first. There's a good bit of back story to the InFamous games, plus the basic gameplay and mechanics are the same on both titles, so you'd be very familiar with the controls and the powers/abilities.

The 1st one is great, and the 2nd is even better, so you could play through the 1st, and then you could run right out and buy the 2nd. Could possibly even find it used by the time you're ready for it.

If you play the 2nd one first, then it's a safe bet you won't go back and play the 1st one, just because of how much better the 2nd one looks and plays. You could skip all the side missions and just stick to story mode, and beat it fairly quickly. But then again, I'd say over half the content of the InFamous games is the side missions and collecting blast shards and dead drops.

Do it just because, but isn't required. You get a small amount of the story fast in the beginning of the second. However, once you play the second, you won't want to go back to 1 if you ever want to play it, so...

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just burn through the story missions and go ahead and finish the 1st game. I will agree that most of the content is in the side missions though.

Everything I've seen about the 2nd is that it's a lot more polished than the 1st, which is probably why I wouldn't go back to it after I played the 2nd.

Finally got the grapple beam. Kind of annoying that the best mobility ability comes so late in the game, but at least I've got it now.

Do the fire powers work any better on the ice dudes then the ice powers do? That's another "oh, come on guys. I'm playing the good side, so you're gonna screw me that bad?"

Goddamnit, Cole died? I feel sad now. No inFamous 3? :( WHAT THE FUCK? :( Such a good game though...it will be interesting to see the evil ending.

Aha! So there is still a "press up on d-pad to zoom in" power, and it's separate from the other fire from a distance bolt (it's a lot more powerful). It's all clicking now.

Still having fun. Some of the side missions involving a lot of monsters have proven a tad difficult, which I like. Wish there was a way to view my game time though. I also wish there was (or maybe is after completion?) a free roam mode or something which would give unlimited energy and ionic powers and such just to mess around.

Guys, found out you can get a "sniper blast" power through this Edge Shaving Gel promotion:
http://edgeshave.com/default.aspx#!/ps3Giveaway/

You have to register an address, but I don't think you have to be accurate apart from the zip code. Regardless you can opt out of getting anything in the mail.

When prompted, use either code:
841058005209
841058005261

Select the Infamous 2 DLC and a code will be emailed to you. I just tried it and did receive a code in the email so I got that far. Haven't tried the code on the PS3 yet so I'm not sure how good the power is. Still, free stuff!

Whoa, sweet. Thanks dude. Used 1 for InFamous and the other for Gran Turismo 5. Both worked.
