I thought this was an EE thread.

Anyway, I couldn't do it. I eat about 3 servings of meat a week, maybe. It's just too expensive, takes too long to cook, and doesn't taste good enough to bother with.

Viva la pasta!

you know that atkins is dead right?
must not work!
try a healthy balanced diet and plenty of exercise.
you need all of the food groups in the propper proportions and to be active!
eat right and get off your ass! do something! and that doesn't meen sitting here posting about how your fad diet isn't working.
nothing better for you than execise and a good balanced diet. just watch your intake and be active is the best thing you can do.

Doesnt matter. GroundZero is right. Get off your fatass and go DO something. People want everything the easy way anymore.
Eat right and exercise and you WILL lose weight. And eat right doesnt mean all you can eat bon bon buffet crap. Eat healthy and exercise. Quit tryin to do everything without any effort. And quit wanting it RIGHT NOW.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't exercise, or even that I agree with the diet. I'm just saying he didn't die as a result of something diet related.

The Atkins diet hasn't yet been proven healthy or unhealthy; various studies have attempted to link it to raised levels of cholesterol and damage to the liver. Some have, some haven't. Sort of like how Creatine hasn't yet been found to have harmful, long-term side-effects.

The diet does work, but I personally have my doubts as to its safety. I prefer just sticking to a healthy, balanced diet year-round while throwing in some heavy weight-training and the occassional bout of cardio.

Edit: And yep, that's the appeal of the Atkins diet. Change your diet, eat all the meat and fat you want, and lose weight without really having to exercise. I'd really hate to see what the diet would do if you were on a regular weight-training program. No carbs = no energy, I would think.

I was thinking induction as in electromagnetic induction. Guess I need to get out more too.

Well, I was thinking that also. I guess we both need to get out more.

Somebody started a topic the other day, asking what everyone hates the most about ATOT.

THIS THREAD is a perfect example of what I hate. People who spout off bullsh*t, as if they know what they are talking about... When in reality, they have done ZERO research on the subject, and have less experience with it. These people aren't qualified to give advice, yet here they are filling people full of misinformation.

You cannot effectively lose weight without exercise. If Whisper were to take 5 minutes and actually research the Atkins plan, you'd see that it calls for plenty of exercise.

And you'd also realize that no carbs does not equal no energy. Not to mention the fact that it's not a "no carb" plan.

Shockwave and GroundZero... I'm not sure why you think that people who are successful on the Atkins plan are lazy. As I said before, you cannot effectively lose weight without working very hard at it. I'll all but guarantee that neither of you have tried the plan.

Doesn't taking glutamine supposed to reduce carb cravings?

Hang in there, cc. The first week is tough, but after that you'll realize that you actually feel better than you have in a while now that your blood sugar levels are consistant.

Btw, I added you to the Private Topics thread about Low Carb'ing. Be sure to check it out.

:)

Exactly. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I know several bodybuilders who use Atkins-plans to reduce stubborn fat while not losing muscle, and still being able to work out almost as intense as if they could on a 4k cal a day diet.

Ketosis is effective.
