Indonesia's state railway, Kereta Api Indonesia, has begun stringing concrete balls over rail lines to prevent people from hitching free rides on top of its trains, according to local news reports.
The devices are called Goal Bola-bola , or goal balls, as they resemble soccer goals with the grapefruit-sized concrete balls strung from chains, according to a report in the Jakarta Post.

damn, wont that kill them?

if they arent worried about killing people they could have some other neat traps too, like a piano wire strung across, or a series of burners shooting flames, or some swinging axe blades...

They don't look close enough to the top. Ducking would bypass the balls. Either that, or carry a Captain America shield :^D

One would hope that they are placing these close to stations where trains go slower. But yeah once they get up to speed D:

I wonder how fast those trains get up to and how many of these roof riders fall off. Messed-up seeing those children hanging onto the back of the train.

Lol.

Unless the balls were actually swinging (ok that just sounds wrong) I doubt they would do much harm. More than likely a bad bruise or perhaps a fracture.

Probably not more than 40mph would be my guess. The tracks are minimally maintained, and there's no reason to push that when you're just commuting.

I don't think they move all that fast compared to many. At least footage I've seen of people riding the trains always show the trains chugging along very slowly. However I imagine they get up to enough speed that such a device could still be lethal in some situations.

LOL, just noticed the guy hanging at the front of the train. That dude's got balls of steel.
