Yeah that article isn't really giving me much. If a major media outlet with a clear bias and intent to undermine Hillary make a formal allegation that there was impropriety during the investigation, I'd hope the FBI would immediately address it in well-coordinated fashion with approval from the top. That is in their interest and in the country's interest regardless of the credibility of the accusation.

What that article doesn't do is provide any evidence as to whether the allegation is true or where it came from.

It's not supposed to actually give you anything other than slimy innuendo against the FBI. It's standard Judicial Watch/ Fox bullshit.

Actually, it doesn't even matter if the allegation was true. Assume that it is. Essentially, someone from the State Dept asked to reclassify an email pertaining to State Dept business. Wouldn't that be within their purview? No "quid pro quo" would be required...they could just tell the FBI that the email shouldn't be "classified", and that's that. Someone is grasping at straws to connect this State guy's decision to allow FBI into Iraq with his decision to declassify an email...but no quid pro quo would be required. If this was a real issue, we would've heard a hell of a lot more noise about this from the GOP and the alt-right on Monday when the report was released...and Senate would have scheduled a hearing already.

Judge ruled today that Manafort continued to lie to the FBI, the OSC and the grand jury about multiple material things after his plea agreement. He really must be praying for a pardon at this point.

The critical part of the GOP controlled Senate so-called investigation verbal conclusion is the term "direct evidence." This means that where the GOP totally controlled the process, refused subpeonas and avenues of investigation requested by the Dems, etc. somehow they were able to come up a smoking gun-something that is rarely found in any sort of conspiracy/collusion investigation, even one that isn't a whitewash.

The best one could say about the Senate "investigation" is that it wasn't so blatantly part of the Trump defense that the House GOP controlled one was (remember them subpoenaing the FBI and Justice Department's evidence while the case was ongoing-so they could turn it right over to the Trump defense team, the chair publicly running to the White House for marching orders, then recusing himself, then unrecusing himself, etc.

I'd say the far more significant news today is that the trial judge has concluded Manafort lied to the Mueller team after entering into his cooperation agreement. Expect an effective life sentence for him on March 13th-and a Trump pardon when and if he thinks he can get away with it.

Democratic members of the committee haven't made any such allegations & I'm sure they know more about it than you do. You're absolutely correct about the Nunes investigation, however. It wasn't so much an investigation as a smokescreen for TrumpCo.

I'm confident that's been his strategy all along. Had he not been so foolish & arrogant as to violate the terms of his pre-trial house arrest to engage in witness tampering he'd probably be free on an appeal bond today.

Grifters gonna grift. They can't help themselves. The accomodations at Club Fed will probably be an improvement over the jail he's in now which is fine by me. It'll still suck, especially for a guy like Manafort.

So Manafort met with a Russia asset to hand over poll data and talked sanction relief after the Trump tower meeting, along with some money laundering while still chair the trump campaign. This is proof of collusion with Russia right?

The fact the judge considered this lie "material" for purposes of perjury means the evidence is relevant in Mueller's investigation of collusion. Relevant doesn't mean it makes the case in and of itself. We don't know all of the evidence that Mueller may have, but if this is a circumstantial case, then the sheer quantity of it matters a lot. This is a complex case where just what is publicly known is voluminous and quite complex. Looking at an individual piece expecting a smoking gun is not realistic.

Also, why did Manafort lie about this, and why have Trump and so many others in his orbit lied about their contacts with Russia?

Yeah just saw that as well. Wonder if Mueller will end up nailing some administration officials as well. Unless they were all smart and told the truth

and the interview was in early fall 2018, meanwhile she was attacking and calling the investigation a "witch hunt" at the podium.

More news. Prosecutors are recommending 19-24 years in prison for Manafort since his plea agreement was tossed.

Also, in filings today Mueller revealed that Stone communicated with Wikileaks and he has them.
