Wow, you're right. For some reason I assumed the money laundering was part of this trial, but, yea, there was nothing about that. Just simple out and out Bank, and IRS fraud; and non reporting of foreign bank accounts. It gets complicated when you are a criminal on so many levels.

i really don't see how it comes back anything other than a conviction. the evidence they've shown is pretty damn solid.

I just read a tweet (not an article) that says his lawyer's closing arguments were that Mueller in no way proved his case or Manafort's guilt. It made me laugh.

Anyone with more than two active brain cells, would be laying on a beach, sipping a drink with an umbrella and it, served by a hot chick in a grass skirt and coconut bra.

I went to Dillard’s yesterday and piled up a bunch of clothes on the checkout counter. The salesperson ask how I would like to pay and I told him I needed to transfer payment for the clothes via wire transfer from my bank in Cyprus.

The salesperson looked at me like I was out of my fucking mind.
 
So Papadopoulos’s wife was on Twitter last night looking for a new pro-bono lawyer for her husband.

Not sure what to make it but there are plenty of theories. Papadopoulos’s wife seems like an attention whore so I have a hard time taking this stunt seriously. Looks like another distraction.

George Papadopoulos sentencing is in three weeks (Sept 7) and he is all but certainly going to jail. I’d speculate 30 days like the other doofus.

Well, that was a trial that lasted for months, and there was an actual defense put forth...even though it was simply: "racism." That, and the prosecution screwed the pooch at nearly every step, and depending on a thorough gaggle of rascals as their primary witnesses, most of whom were easily destroyed by the defense. Also: thoroughly stupid, demonstrably incompetent jurors.

There's a reason the defense cited Trump essentially for the first time during closing arguments: all they need is one TDS supporter to say this is all a big witch hunt against Trump and his people to hang the jury.

“Jury deliberations are now underway in Paul Manafort's trial in federal court in Alexandria, Va. The judge briefly called the jurors in this morning and gave them a brief overview of the process, and then they went out at 9:55am. They can take as long or as short as they want

The jury will get all of the hundreds of exhibits entered into the record. They asked to use a larger room to deliberate, and the judge agreed. He reminded them that they can only deliberate while all 12 are in the room — if someone goes to the bathroom, they must stop, he said

The judge noted that the jury room was on the small side — he said he was involved in planning the construction of the courthouse, and didn't recall paying attention to the jury rooms. "I paid a lot of attention to my space. I regret that now."

At the very end, the judge got ready to call the next case. He asked if "Mr. Trump" was in the room. There was what I would call a momentary ripple of confusion/anxiety/excitement as everyone looked around. The judge appeared to be referring to a lawyer. It was not the president.“

The judge should be reprimanded. Hope the prosecution wins, with the repeated attempts by him to interject his opinions about how questions should be stated, various other improper conduct.

What are your thoughts on the jury needing to define reasonable doubt given some of the theatrics by the judge throughout the trial?
