There's no "rape culture" in India as such. Where there is a culture of is a pervasive patriarchy and misogyny, which isn't unique to India - it's a South Asian thing. Throw that in with a general sense of lawlessness, and lack of a strong police force, and naturally it's a crime that's prominent. The fix for this is unfortunately a long time in coming. Maybe international shaming will move it along faster, but I doubt it - it hasn't done anything for Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.

You guys really think things would be different here, or in any other country, if you didn't have a strong police force? You think people would be law abiding if there was no threat of punishment? So naive. Every country is only a disaster away from having a "rape culture".

That being said, I know it feels good to look down on a county, its people, and indulge in moral relativism, righteousness and bolster yourself; hell I've been guilty of it myself. But it's a feeble, weak minded thing to do, and you guys should really have better things going on in your life so that you don't have to indulge in this.
