<< I trust India, it's a democratic country. I don't trust Pakistan. Pakistan is ruled by a general who overthrew his government. While this guy is very ruthless, he doesn't like the Talibans, but his secret police supports the Talibans and bin Laden. To make the long story short, there are some government branches (the army) will support us, but others such the fundamentalist clerics are against us, so are the secret police. I don't think the general population have a warm feeling toward us either. >>

While it's true that Musharraf doesn't especially like the Taliban it is merely out of fear. He is afraid of the Taliban becoming too influential and deposing him as President/Dictator. In countries like Pakistan it matters very little what the "President" says. It is the Islamic councils that are running the show.

<< P.S. Kingham You don't understand W.G.I. dude W.G.I. where gonig in!!!

There are no borders!

or like the song says

No where to run to baby nowhere to hide!
>>

Where are we going in and to what purpose? Nothing is clear at this moment. It is pretty obvious that we are not going into Pakistan and it is extremely doubtful that we are going into Tajikistan, due to it being under the Russian sphere of influence.

I agree that there will be a response, but if you think that it will be substantially different than the weak respnses that we have had in the past few years then you are deluding yourself.

India is very close to Pakistan and Afganistan geographically but FAR from both countries politically.

Pakistan and Afganistan are ruled by military dictators. India is the largest democracy on this planet. Although India is a poor country, they can offer air access over the Himalayas into Afganistan.

I dont think the Pakis can be trusted. Muslims tend to stick together. India is clearly our ally here and Pakistan so far, is not.

Lets be real honest. The only reason India wants to "help" is because they think since Pakestan has terrorists, they think we will attack their greatest enemy.

Remember, Pakestan has nuclear weapons.

If Pakistan does betray the US, then an attack on Pakistan will ensue, with India probably joining in on that. There probably is no chance in hell that the two countries will get along with each other over this matter with all the death and fighting that has been going on there seemingly forever.

BTW, I'm Indian

Yea your right if we dont go in hard (establish a ground presance send out seal teams and dismantle the Taliban Gov )I will be disappointed/deluded they where even talking about Armour divisions now I cant wait to turn on the news and see why we can't

India, like Israel and now the US has been a victim of bin laden's pigs. That alone would make India willing to help us out. Ask any Indian and they will tell you that Pakistan is not India's greatest enemy. Pakistan is more like an estranged brother. China is considered the real threat.

Secondly, India stands to gain a lot by being on America's good side. Think about it. India has people; lots of people. And America has technology to sell to those people. India doesn't have much in terms of infrastructure. America has the expertise to build roads and power plants. India has cheap engineering talent to export, which we have a need for. Being friends with America also means India comes closer to Israel. Israel has something India badly needs - agricultural expertise to grow crops with a limited amount of water.

TexMaster - India helps out of a clear consience.

But, if you think US is interested only in avenging and not removing terrorism then I'd say what you said is justified.

If US vows to remove terrorism PAK has to be cleaned

Don't look from that angle. India would actually gain by this, but are you saying you don't care if terrorism is removed from India. You only want revenge.

Precisely those! Those were priceless ancient monuments that should have been preserved for future generations! They were part of the legacy of mankind! But then some ignorant morons decide to destroy them! God I feel annoyed!

Another good reason for India - a predominantly Hindu country, while not a "Hindu state" - to join the USA in the fight against Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, is because the Talibans aren't exactly friendly to Hindus.

Hindu's in Afghanistan are being singled-out almost like Jews were under Hitler's regime. Have all the Indian/Hindu members of this board forgotten this?

Yea, I think every Muslim country told the Talibans not to do any harm on historical works, but they didn't give a f*ck.

They wouldn't listen to their own Muslim brothers, and some think they will listen to the US in turning over bin ladin? Please...

Most Muslims are horrified at what has happened. Pakistan will not do anything foolish over this.

Well, at least we have the biggest democracy in the world on our side (India), population-wise

<< We do have Pakistan, and to my understanding, considering I'm Indian, India and Pakistan aren't part of the Middle East. Both India AND Pakistan are directly connected to Afghanistan. Map
India's border is significantly smaller than Pakistan though, so Pakistan is more important for entry, India for army.
>>

That map is incorrect... it gives India all of Kashimir... as you know half of Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) is under pakistani juristiction... therefore India has no border with Afghanistan.
