Keep waiting...Lucas and Spielberg found 'some time off' and put this together but still no word on the original 3 Star Wars films. But, for those, if it's only going to be those lame-ass 'Special Ed'itions, I won't be buying.

But, this is good news indeed as these will be untouched versions! Well...remastered but not edited!

If I'm pop this DVD in and end up watching Indy run around with a walkie talkie instead of his whip I'm driving to Hollywood and kicking Spielberg's ass!!!!!!!!

USA Today

When Spielberg edited ET the Extra-Terrestrial last year for the long-awaited DVD release, he digitally removed some guns because of the film's young audience. But no changes were made to the Indy series.

Cool.....the story I read didn't mention that. You're safe for now Spielberg.....just watch your step and don't F with anymore movies.

OK. I'm not buying. Here's why.

If the 4th Indy ever comes out, they're going to package all 4 together in yet another box set. Marketing, people, it's all about marketing.

And I'll buy the 4th movie when it does. I don't feel like waiting for a possibly slated movie to make its way through production and theatrical run to enjoy some classic movies I've been looking forward to for years in digital format.

Well...by that time, HD-DVD will be out so there will be another long delay. I'll have my pre-order in for this set. 🙂

And if I were Lucas and Spielberg I would only release the 4th movie on DVD as part of the box set. 😉

Come on, it's not out of the question considering Lucas' decisions recently.

I could have sworn I heard somewhere that any DVD boxed set of Star Wars movies will indeed have the Special Editions of Eps. 4-6. Supposedly the "original" versions of those three movies will never be available on DVD. 🙁

That's what I've heard, too. Which is why I'll never own the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. I don't have E.T. for similar reasons as the original version is only available as part of that boxed set with the edited version and is way too much to spend for 1 movie. Damn $pielberg wants to be a personal Disney. He's even said so in the past.

I read the same thing somewhere. Lucas is an ass....the original versions of the Eps 4-6 did not need to be tinkered with. He's just a pompus ass who will keep playing with the movies until he ends up runing them. These days he is totally out of touch and is chruning out garbage that is soiling the Star Wars name.

Thank God I have 2 VHS box sets of the original movies before Lucas special editioned them to death.

Best News ever!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this set for a while....I really hope they did it up well with the extras....so looking forward to this.

Actually, the original theatrical version of ET is available in the regular ET release and not only the more expensive boxed set. Universal made a last minute decision about that and basically decided to tell no one about it.

This should look even better than the DVD copy I got from SE Asia. 😉

This one is LONG overdue. I can understand them playing delay and marketing games with the original trilogy, but releasing the Indiana Jones trilogy shouldn't hurt any upcoming film and would only hope build an audience for it with the younger viewers. The Indiana Jones films can do a better job of standing on their own whereas the Star Wars films definitely need to be taken in as a series.
