USA Today
When Spielberg edited ET the Extra-Terrestrial last year for the long-awaited DVD release, he digitally removed some guns because of the film's young audience. But no changes were made to the Indy series.

OK. I'm not buying. Here's why.

And I'll buy the 4th movie when it does. I don't feel like waiting for a possibly slated movie to make its way through production and theatrical run to enjoy some classic movies I've been looking forward to for years in digital format.
I could have sworn I heard somewhere that any DVD boxed set of Star Wars movies will indeed have the Special Editions of Eps. 4-6. Supposedly the "original" versions of those three movies will never be available on DVD.Originally posted by: conjur

Keep waiting...Lucas and Spielberg found 'some time off' and put this together but still no word on the original 3 Star Wars films. But, for those, if it's only going to be those lame-ass 'Special Ed'itions, I won't be buying.
But, this is good news indeed as these will be untouched versions! Well...remastered but not edited!

I read the same thing somewhere. Lucas is an ass....the original versions of the Eps 4-6 did not need to be tinkered with. He's just a pompus ass who will keep playing with the movies until he ends up runing them. These days he is totally out of touch and is chruning out garbage that is soiling the Star Wars name.Originally posted by: bigsmooth

That's what I've heard, too. Which is why I'll never own the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. I don't have E.T. for similar reasons as the original version is only available as part of that boxed set with the edited version and is way too much to spend for 1 movie. Damn $pielberg wants to be a personal Disney. He's even said so in the past.
