if they want to go to war, then let them, but for god's sake, don't bring in the fookin nukes :/ not only will millions die, but the earth will suffer more (global warming + pollutants + radiation + etc)
Please stop with the gloom and doom prophecies you were told to expect by your Earth Day supporting and tree clinging elementary school teacher. A recent panel of scientists concluded that radiation and fallout risks resulting from a full scale nuclear war between Pakistan and India for regions other than the immediate South Asian continent would be "vanishingly small".

Experts say radiation fallout is unlikely to pose an immediate danger beyond South Asia.
Worldwide, immediate impacts probably would not be great. The bombs would eject some radiation into the upper atmosphere, which would circulate in the northern hemisphere. However, this radiation rapidly decays, McKinzie said, to about one percent of its original strength in the first 48 hours. He noted there is still radiation circling the earth from the above-ground nuclear testing programs of the 1950s and 60s.
We performed HUNDREDS of nuclear tests and so did the former Soviet Union, the world-wide effects are so small they are difficult to measure. An international panel estimated the result was an additional 800 cases of cancer every year. WOAH! Out of the hundreds of thousands of new cancer cases diagnosed every year, our nuclear testing programs are responsible for about 800 of them.

And you're scared of a few more explosions, as if the earth will forever be uninhabitable again. You can come out from under your bed, now. Nothing to see here, move along...

you realise that you speak the bastardised form of english here in US ?
Well since we were able to run the English out of here almost 250 years ago (something your country couldn't achieve) it's understandable that our english would differ somewhat to theirs.

I know of plenty of conflicts. The point is you can't do anything in a week. They're not going to be able to accomplish whatever objectives they have.

What are you talking about?

And I suppose you know of a conflict in which that wasn't true. :D

Oh man, how easily we can see the other guy and what an eternity we will have to wait before we see ourselves.

Don't forget. We have met the enemy and they are us.

I would wonder though, how many of those tests were underground? A good percentage I would think. Obviously any nuke used in a war would not be, just the opposite in fact. I don't think we should delude ourselves into thinking that somehow the after affects would somehow be minimal or acceptable. I don't think nukes will be used anyway, as I've said here about a gazillion times it's just sabre rattling. JMO

hammer, you say 'whatever objectives they have which tells me you don't know what they are. How then do you know if a week isn't long enough. We can worry about what I'm talking about after we're sure you know what you're talking about. :D

By attacking soon, an officer said, they planned to set back Pakistan's military capability by at least 30 years, pushing it into the military "dark ages".

Thems fight'n words!

I was being very clear. Your post went of on some tangent that only you realize.

The Gulf War, the most one-sided war in history, was not over in a week. Obviously, you seem to have some trouble grasping this. If you read the article, you see that they only expect to have a week before international pressure forces them to stop.

hammer, I know that I am exceptionally dense, but if their goal is to fight for a week until international pressure stops them, and you suggested you didn't know what their goal is, than by my reckoning a week should do it. I merely suggested then, that as long as you don't know their goal, your presumption that a week is insufficient is just that, a presumption.

As to the tangent, the possibility that it was something that only I realize, was why I posted it. :D I mean, after all, did you make the point that India was being ridiculous because you already thought I knew?
