I loved it, especially with a nice surround sound setup![]()
The deal was prearranged, the cell phone call was the final okay to go through with it. That's a perfectly cromulent situation. The driver of the plot. Some wealthy Japanese man who apparently has the power, with his cell phone, to drop U.S. murder charges and international arrest warrants within minutes. MINUTES.
50 years in the dream state. They said quite clearly and multiple times that dream-time is much faster than real, especially in the Limbo type area they were stuck in. Their bodies were out for hours, maybe a day or two.Why didn't Cobb just get plane tickets for his kids as well? He seems wealthy enough, and not tied down (obviously he couldn't be too tied down to have escaped with his wife to a dream state for 50 years).
I agree Decaprio is one of the better actors out there as well. I remember back when i didnt know who he was and saw "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". I thought the kid playing Arny was actually retarded. Low and behold a few years later Decaprio becomes a big name in Hollywood and then it dawned on me that Arny was an acting job and not an actual retard. Talk about acting![]()
I thought it was rather good. Apparently I'm in the minority of film critics here.
Yep, Decaprio is awesome. I consider him a GREAT actor, one of the best.
I think your all giving it a bit too much credit for being "complex" I found the movie easy to follow and made sense. The only "complex" part was when they were in the Tundra and you couldn't tell who was who because they were all dressed alike.
There was a lot of arbitrary stuff thrown in with no explanation you could ponder but why would you theres no point and no answer to it.
I thought the movie was good. One of the better movies released recently but I wouldn't call it complex by any stretch of the imagination because the whole plan and plot is laid out very simply and repetitively throughout the entire film.
Theres really not even any hidden details that you can go back and be like "Well I missed that the first time around" because everything is basically explained by the characters on the spot except a few meaningless detail and those are tossed up to "Well its the nature of the unknown" or some other crap.
I went in expecting to have a lot to think about or a hard time following it but unless you fell asleep its a pretty basic plot surrounding a unique catalyst.
I'll give it an 8.8/10
Nolan fan, here.
I haven't seen all of his movies, but I don't rank Inception very highly. I think it's worth watching only one time. It's just too long.
People call it: "The thinking man's summer action flick." I saw a lot of non-sense and made-up plot device "rules" ...no actual science.
Made-up "rules" as plot devices = Pet peeve
It's why I couldn't fully enjoy Lord of the Rings.
Why is it that the ring can only be destroyed in the fires of Mordor, where it was made?
If Sauron made it, why can't he make another?
Lady in the Water had nothing but made-up rules, resulting in an unwatchable movie. Devil is the same way. What the hell happened to MNS?![]()
The genius behind Inception is duping the viewers that there's cohesion, a story, behind all the $200 million worth of senseless action like a gazillion explosions, 15 minutes of a rotating hallway, 5 minutes of falling car, etc etc.
Yep, Decaprio is awesome. I consider him a GREAT actor, one of the best.
Lots of people on ATOT didn't like Inception? Shocking!

The low frequency effects were awesome in that movie for sure!
No, I agree with you. I thought it was well-crafted film and some of the holes the OP references are not holes at all; he also has a very different interpretation of the film than I do.

Edit: also, Avatar was shitty.
