Inception Sucked

I'm late to say this, but Inception sucked. How all the critics loved it is beyond me.

Interesting idea, poor execution. Plot holes abound. A small example is finding a chemical engineering expert in Mombasa, who in a pinch can adjust his sedative to not affect the inner ear so that the fall can work. Why even mention this? Why introduce the plot hole to only give an unreasonable explanation to its solution?

It seems the entire film is based upon trying to justify plot holes. The whole time I'm being told why this or that is happening, according to the situation.

I like Ellen Page. But what is she doing in this movie? Is she a love interest for Cobb? No, that's sort of creepy because she looks like she's a teenager. Arthur steals a kiss but that's all there is. There was no lead up or follow through. Page's character appears out of nowhere but is given ultimate access to Cobb's mind.

The driver of the plot. Some wealthy Japanese man who apparently has the power, with his cell phone, to drop U.S. murder charges and international arrest warrants within minutes. MINUTES.

Why didn't Cobb just get plane tickets for his kids as well? He seems wealthy enough, and not tied down (obviously he couldn't be too tied down to have escaped with his wife to a dream state for 50 years).

Finally the overall premise just doesn't make sense. We're dreaming together, yet what I'm doing away from your perspective affects your dream. For example shooting guards at the compound where you can't see, or dropping chloroform on your hood in the van. In the dream state aren't we depending on psychological reactions? If you don't know I'm doing that, how does it affect you? I'm sure one of the actors gave a one-sentence explanation for this plot hole like they did all the others.

I think it sucked pretty hard as well. I agree that the movie tries to explain itself one too many times. If a movie needs to do that so often, that's an indication that the plot's way too complicated or flimsy. I actually consider this one to be one of Nolan's bad ones.

It wasn't as revolutionary or brilliant as people had put it, but it was entertaining and the acting was rather good.

You're pretty awesome and edgy hating this movie. Let me guess, Avatar was shitty too?

Nolan fan, here.

I haven't seen all of his movies, but I don't rank Inception very highly. I think it's worth watching only one time. It's just too long.

People call it: "The thinking man's summer action flick." I saw a lot of non-sense and made-up plot device "rules" ...no actual science.

Made-up "rules" as plot devices = Pet peeve

It's why I couldn't fully enjoy Lord of the Rings.
Why is it that the ring can only be destroyed in the fires of Mordor, where it was made?
If Sauron made it, why can't he make another?

Lady in the Water had nothing but made-up rules, resulting in an unwatchable movie. Devil is the same way. What the hell happened to MNS? :(

"Made-up rules". That's exactly what I was thinking of but couldn't quite put my finger on it. I guess subconsciously, that's the reason why I dislike many of the movies that I dislike. Forcing your audience to suspend belief (I know I know it's a movie and that in itself is a contradiction) and to "abide" by made-up rules just to make the movie watchable is just full of fail.

Hmmm. You appear to be a homosexual man in denial. Decaprio is awesome.
Blood Diamond
Departed
Gangs of New York
lots of other movies

OP is right about inception making too many plot holes. Overall it was interesting, but it did seem stupid how they introduce the problem of making 3 layers of sleep then they immediately solve that problem. Most of the movie is pretty good though.

I thought it was OK, but not nearly as good as I was expecting from all the comments. I'm glad I didn't spend $25+ for my wife and I to see it in the theater.

Mount Doom was the only place hot enough to melt and destroy the ring.

Once it was made, Sauron basically infused himself into it - so once it was destroyed he would be as well. He can't make another one since he would be destroyed. It is symbolic - it is like his soul (or hate, etc.).....

Anyway...it's pretty simple to understand.

Well I think your critique of the movie is full of holes and 1000x more shitty than the movie.

For instance your critique of the functionality for a fabricated blackmarket invention is ludicrous. You accept dreaming together as a possibility but question the details of how it works when you are dreaming. Why accept the premise at all? Its like watching star wars or star trek accepting that humans and aliens work and live along side each other and wondering why every alien species breathes the same oxygen ratio in the air as humans and function under the same atmospheric pressure..

You should just stick to non-fiction documentaries.

I wish I hadn't heard/read what other people were saying about it. It made it sound complicated and that there was something that needed to be figured out. Like those movies that have a really cool plot twist. So I went into it analyzing and trying to figure out what it would be, except the movie was very straightforward and there were no twists at all.

Yep, Decaprio is awesome. I consider him a GREAT actor, one of the best.
