It's no stretch. OJ is on tape directing his armed cohorts not to allow anyone to leave the room. They were held captive at gunpoint. That is kidnapping.

Would you prefer the term, "unlawful restraint" to kidnapping?" The actual details of the definitions vary between jurisdictions, but if you care to make that distinction, the only difference would be whether the victim is held captive where he is or transported to another place.
Beyond that, it still doesn't matter. Simpson was convicted of armed robbery.
