I don't know how old this is, but I got it from my Dad's boss. It doesn't work too good on paper, but spoken it tricks most people.

Think of words that end in -gry. Hungry and Angry are two of them. There are three words in the english language. What is the third word?

Answer

The answer is language. It should really be written as There are three words in "The English Language." I just didn't want to give it away in case somebody hasn't seen it before. I actually never could find another word that ends in gry. Thats the best I have for now.

What gets wetter as it dries? a towel
(would it be wetter or more wet?)

What walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the afternoon, and 3 legs in the evening.
a man - 4 (2 legs + 2 arms) when he is a baby, 2 (2 legs) when he is an adult, and 3 (2 legs + cane) when he is an old man. i think there might be more to the answer than what i typed but thats basically how it goes.

2 ropes (each of varying lengths)

Both ropes when lit on one end burn for an hour. Both rope at different points burn at variable rates.

You are given a box of matches and told to measure 15 minutes.

How do you measure it?

You have 2 coins with a total value of 15 cents, and one of them is not a dime. What coins are they?

If you say it fast enough people really seem to stumble.

When you ask the riddle, the person thinks they're supposed to give you another word that ends in gry. What you really want is the word language. The first two sentences don't mean anything, the important part is "There are three words in 'The English Language'." When you ask what the third word is, you're asking what is the third word in "The English Lanuage." That's why it doesn't work if it's written down instead of spoken.

it is raining outside and 4 people in a car need to get to the front door of the building but there is only 1 umbrella. one person must bring the umbrella back to get another person after each trip from the car to the door. the pair walking from the car to the door can only walk as fast as the slower person can walk. one person takes 10 minutes to make the trip, one person takes 5 minutes to make the trip, one person takes 2 minutes to make the trip and the last person takes 1 minute to make the trip.

what is the least amount of time it will take to get everyone from the car to the building?

I ring like a bell.
I speak with many voices.
I listen like a spy and keep no secrets.
I can be on a leash like a dog, or free like a bird.
I'm know how to count, and even my ABC's.

What is i?

I've seen this one before, but never been able to do it before.

I have another riddle. What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of rocks. It's kinda dumb, but works on people that aren't really thinking about what you're saying.

19minutes maybe? Or have I just made myself look more stupid than usual?

I am sitting in the middle of a lake on a boat that floats. I have a rock in the boat. I throw it overboard and the rock sinks to the bottom of the lake. The the lake sea level rise or lower or stay the same.

*HINT* "Eureka"
