Doh! USPS tried to deliver my 2900XT and I was at work. :(

I'll have a few benches and "thoughts" on the 2900XT to add to this thread tomorrow.

I think a lot of people will be interested in 1920x1200 benches as I think that is the only resolution that hasnt been benched between Keys, apoppin and N7.

Only problem is my CPU, mobo and RAM are ancient by today's standards. I hope the fact that I am gaming at 1920x1200 will remove most of the CPU bottleneck.

Can't wait!

Isnt Cat 7.7 supposed to be out pretty soon?

awesome ... yes ... do 19x12 gaming!

that is one question left unanswered ... too bad you don't have a GTS to bench it against

7.7 is supposed to be out before/by the 31st
-i will do another 'round' then and try to add a game or two

Hopefully my new toy will distract me from my Xbox 360 sorrows. That is, assuming it doesnt blow up my PSU. ;)

Hopefully STALKER will be a little more "playable" compared to my X1900XTX. I've been waiting months to play this game.

stalker is still really dependent on CPU speed
--sorry about your xbox360 :(

i think next time you will be more "supportive" of the PC in 'PC Gaming vs. Console' threads

Dont tell me that! :)

I found a guy who wants to buy my busted Xbox 360 for $100 so my fingers on the trigger for a new CPU, mobo and RAM.

-and make SURE it is a crossfire MB !!

I was thinking P35, but I dont like the fact it's only 16x/4x in CF mode. Does the 975 or 965 support 16x/16x?

This one supports 8x 8x + a physics card slot. But it's really expensive. Uses Crossfire Xpress 3200 IE chipset. And this is the open box price. Youch!!!

Yes, I kept the GTS, and the main reason, similar to why apoppin kept his 2900XT, is that I have and SLI motherboard (Apoppin has Xfire mobo). So even if the cards were dead even in every test, I would still keep the GTS. As of right now, with Cat 7.6 drivers, the GTS edged out the 2900XT in my benching.

Yes, I used "Signature delivery". Sorry about that, but I didn't want them leaving a $400+ item outside on a doorstep, if ya know what I mean. hehe. But, at least you know it's there and waiting to be picked up.

You're neglecting the fact that Darth Vader killed the Emperor to save Luke Skywalker at the end. :p

Weird, is that mobo the RD580 NB or is it RD600?

I only ask because the current motherboard I have is the DFI CFX3200 w/ Xpress3200 NB.

Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the signature delivery. I live in an apartment almost smack in the middle of college area. That package wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes on my doorstep.

Under Vista it's almost a dead heat...the GTS is IMHO a tiny bit faster (except in benchmarks), but ATI has better Vista drivers (far more stable), and that counts for a lot in my books...although Nvidia is getting better.

Go with what ever you can get cheaper...
