Good, principled politicians who do the right thing on religion and policies can lose to demagogues this way - as the overwhelming vote shows they know.

English is based almost entirely on Ancient German language. It uses the Latin alphabet and Latin is used to aide in new word creation. Outside of that, lol. English has more in common with French than Latin. It's like saying Japanese is based on Chinese because they share an alphabet and some word meanings, except they exist in completely unrelated families of language.
