Holy Crap you guys are spoiled. This place is radio shack, books a million, best buy, compusa, circuit city and well some coffee shop all in one. I was in the store for close to 5 hours. Why don't they have these in Florida 🙁 Or atleast south florida

That's the only one in Chicago - they're originally located in the westcoast, if I'm not mistaken.

And yes, you're right - it kicks BB's ass tenfold. 😀

they are very cool, but my budget would suffer if they ever open one in KC

i have visited the stores in dallas and wilsonville OR

They opened one in north georgia if you feel like driving for about 6 or 7hours.

I was there for the Grand Opening. They gave you a map of the store when you entered.
And you definitely needed one.

Went to Fry's for the first time about two weeks ago and loved every minute of it. Wish they had one in my area.

I go there once a month. The cool thing is that they carry stuff that U will find on newegg ( not that extensive ). After reviewing items online, I go there to check them in person. They also have a couple of rigs with the lastest and the greatest harware running newest games. I love Fry's 🙂

Well, it's not exactly "in" Chicago; it's about 30 minutes away.
It's actually 5 minutes away from my home 😀 Very nice store.

Dang, I have 4 within 10 minutes of me (San Jose, CA).

Actually I was there on lunch, and I couldn't find silver thumbscrews... they had a pallet worth of BRONZE thumbscrews!

Trey, technically we got 5 within reasonable driving distance. San Jose, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Campbell, and Fremont...and if you really wanted to, you can drive 45 minutes up 680 to Concord Fry's. 🙂

ahh frys. i used to work in the sunnyvale one. now in socal, i'm stuck with the one in burbank. just not as fun as the original ones up north. although the city of industry one isn't bad.

Chicago has:

1. Best Buy
2. CompUSA
3. Staples
4. Fry's
5. OfficeMax
6. Office Depot
7. Circuit City
8. Radio Shack
9. Guitar Center
10. Tweeter

It's a wonder they all stay in business.

Then there are the non retail chain's like Grant's and ABT.

Wilsonville's is small compared to the one in Renton WA, i was kinda dissappointed. The lack of tax made up for it though 😉.

You left out the Micro Center, it's at Elston and Logan (near Diversey).

We have all of those, except Frys, in my area, and they seem to be doing just fine.

Grr.. they built the fry's in Downers Grove which is my home town. Anyways, I still havn't managed to go in it yet.

Abt is my favorite place. The "New" store (~year or so old) is awesome.

They also have a site ( big shock there, huh? ) Abt Electronics

They've been around for decades, outliving box-pushing organizations like ABC Warehouse, Highland Appliance ....

The prices are good, but the SERVICE is second-to-none ... a true "Kill 'em with service" attitude.

Fry's is OK, lots of stuff (Abt doesn't have much in the way of computer stuff), but I don't expect much in the way of service .... I just use 'em for commodity stuff and books.

I believe Fry's started in Texas, then opened stores around silicon Valley, and are spreading from there. The salesperson I talked to said they're looking to open one or two more stores in ChicagoLand in the next year or two (North and central, closer to the city).

FWIW
