Wow... the Chinese mafia make smaller incisions... :sneaky:

When the surgeon was done with me and spoke with my wife, he told her "we weren't worried about how big the incision needed to be because we wanted that kidney to come out clean".

There's something wrong with their greeting card send form. It thinks that name, room number and email are all email address fields and it's validating format.

I sent the greeting to Andrew@1204.room and it went through.

I was also having issues. I tried what you suggested in both the Patients's name and Patient's room and it seemed to go through.

Glad to hear you made it through okay!

(just a suggestion, change the OP to say pics in post #193 rather than page 4... not everyone has the same posts/page set)

My lady friend donated a kidney to her cousin back in August of last year. It has taken her body a while to adjust to the one kidney. As the donor, hang in there because it might take several months for things to get back to normal for you.

Curious. With only 1 kidney, do doctors recommend that you avoid eating bananas?

No, it only becomes a concern if your kidney is not functioning at 100%. You only need one kidney to live without much adjustment in your lifestyle. The problem he had was that both kidneys were not working and eventually got worse.

As of yesterday, he was allowed a regular diet.

Final Update:

Andrew was finally released from the hospital after 17 days. Kidney is doing great, all of his lines are out including his dialysis line that was in his neck and he's feeling good.

Funny thing is before his transplant, he couldn't eat more than a 1,000mg or Potassium, so cheese, bananas and milk were very limited. Now after the transplant the doc has told him to eat more cheese and milk because he's actually too low in potassium.

He has to load up on several medications for a while, but he's cool with them. It's just good to be home.

Wonderful to hear that everything is rocking along fine for you both. Continued well wishes for you and your boy.

And while you're here, I was wondering about a tax question... is a kidney donation tax-deductible? 😛 I guess I know the answer -valuation is an issue because it's priceless.
