April 5th Update:
Andrew was finally released from the hospital after 17 days. Kidney is doing great, all of his lines are out including his dialysis line that was in his neck and he's feeling good.
Funny thing is before his transplant, he couldn't eat more than a 1,000mg or Potassium, so cheese, bananas and milk were very limited. Now after the transplant the doc has told him to eat more cheese and milk because he's actually too low in potassium.
He has to load up on several medications for a while, but he's cool with them. It's just good to be home.
March 23rd Update:
Pics have been added on Post 193. Not for the squeemish. Actually, they aren't that bad and I didn't post any close-ups. My son has on large one that starts on the left side of his abdomen and goes all the way around to the back. Right now it itches. Poor guy. Good news is that all IV lines have come out with the exception of his dialysis line (goes through where his neck meets his shoulders. They are using it for his drips and medicines, most medicines anyway, and just in case they need to put him back on dialysis. Eventually that will be taken out as well. He was also moved out of ICU and into a room. If any of you want to send him a cheer up note, you can do it here. His room is 1204. His name is Andrew.

March 21st Update:
Looks like I will be able to go home today. Unfortunately, Andrew is still in quite a bit of pain. The world hates him and he thinks everyone wants him to die

The worse thing is they won't let him eat today. He has been demanding pizza from anyone who will listen (he's 10 btw). However, the kidney is working great. His creatinine (not creatine), potassium (too much can kill you) and BUN (a protein measure) levels are in the range of a normal person. This is great news. He's also urinating well. I haven't seen him yet, as I just got unhooked of everything, but should soon and am going to try to get him up and walking.

March 20th Update:
Just to let everyone know, my son and I are doing well. I'm back in my room and he's in the ICU where he'll be for the next several days. I'm pretty damn tired, so I'll post with details and pics in a day or two. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Sorry to everyone who was on the benefactor list, maybe next time :awe:

March 19th Update:
Well, we are registered in the hospital. Nothing like being in arguably the best children's hospital in the country: Big, private rooms; Playstation 2's in every room; portable Wii's if we want one, radio station at the top of the floor that does daily contests, extensive menus, great nurses and Big Wheels to ride on the floor. What more can a kid or big kid ask for?
Surgeries start at 7am tomorrow with me, then 8:30 with the son. Things going well so far.
