It has nothing to do with how fast it can get something done. Rather how well it does it. I've got a Vitamix and after using a Ninja and a previous Oster "cheapie" blender there is absolutely no comparison for the capability of the Blendtec/Vitamix level of blender. The Ninja basically "finely chopped" things. It would leave things kinda chunky/gritty. The cheapie blenders tended to pull things to the bottom initially, liquify them and then everything else would get stuck up top. And it would still leave things sort of gritty.
These high end blenders pulverize the ever loving crap out of things. Even down to the tiny seeds in Raspberries. It will take 2 cups of milk, two frozen bananas, an avacado, two huge handfuls of spinach and another cup of frozen berries and turn it into a wonderfully smooth breakfast in a cup. Could not replicate that in any other device.
Oh and it will take things like peeled oranges, lemons, limes, pineapples, whole apples, ect and completely liquify them. Pulp/core/seeds and all. Add ice and alcohol and you have a delicious adult slushy with the smoothest texture I've got from a device at home.
