Nobody mentioned it, I was surprised to see it listed. Glad AMD is staying on top of these things instead of having to read about it on a review site.

Installed them, was planning to pick up the game for cheap this weekend >.<

I haven't started Tomb Raider yet. Was waiting for a driver update first. Guess I'll give these ones a shot and see how they work out.

Just got my 7870 so I'm still in the tweaking stages.

Starts the download of Tomb Raider....Might take a while it looks like 🙁

I don't know what they mean by latency, but if it's frametime latency then this could explain the stuttering I saw and posted here:

As for the corruption issue, I haven't delved deep into the game yet. Just finishing up Crysis 3.

How does the benchmark translate to gameplay? Would I be able to play on this setting? I just downloaded the game last night so I've only run the benchmark so far. Trying to figure out what settings and overclock work best still.

It'll be very playable. The only time I found the game to be choppy was during cutscenes when Lara's head w/TressFX took up much of the screen and I could feel it drop below 30FPS on my rig.
 
I am able to play the game smoothly at 1080p maxed out with Tressfx with zero AA. It is mostly above 60+ fps but occasionally dips to 40s/50s but is smooth most of the time.

With AA you will probably need to move to 900p or lower though. Or you can do 1440p without Tressfx without AA and still maintain avg 60+ fps.

But this is with a decent CPU oc and gpu at ccc max. A stock 2600k with a stock 7970 or 7950 at ccc max will be significantly slower and will need some reduced settings to maintain 60 fps.

Not only it reduced perfomance on my 7950 CFX rig, it also did nothing for the microstuttering I noticed earlier.

The proper solution for buttery smooth framerate remains the vsync double buffered+MSI Afterburner 60fps frame rate limit.

I did two vids to illustrate this better.

Please note a couple of these stutters occur due to fraps recording, but the difference between the two methods is evident.
 
Might need to try these out, Tomb Raider is clobbering my SnB i5 and 7950.

With 1440P, all settings on max, I pull a mere 15fps average. Turning AA to FXAA bumps it up to about 28. Makes aiming a royal pain.

You using AFR. Microstuttering is a problem of the technique which is not fixable.

You're playing this game with SSAA maxed out, on a 2560x1440 screen, with a single card? Yea that performance sounds about right. Need to turn AA down.

They've said they are working on a memory rewrite, it just isn't done yet. What would you prefer in the meantime? Them to do nothing? And as Phynaz indicated, fixes for issues in specific games is nothing new for either chip designer...
 
You using AFR. Microstuttering is a problem of the technique which is not fixable.

Nvidia is using AFR as well and is buttery smooth as it is. It's not the AFR that is the problem, but something in the driver. I've been using AFR solutions and have never observed something like this.

Also thankfully it's just Tomb Raider, but as I said before, I'm new to 7950 CFX so I have many more things to study. Crysis 3 which was much heavier graphics wise, runs much smoother.
 
No, AFR cannot be fixed. If you don't notice it, you either have always more than 50-60fps, a CPU bottleneck or your perception is just different.
AFR will always microstutter below a certain fps threshold that varies from game to game. Usually it's about 50.
 
You know, I am starting to think that the delay of HD8000 series is the best that could have happened to owners of current gen cards. Had there been a Christmas launch AMD would be too busy with drivers for the HD8970 right now to bother with our current cards (which after all are working really well by now in general). The same goes for NV of course.

How about Dynamic V-sync?
