What do all the other beta and/or fake beta (playing non-official versions) think of this? I've only played 8 games due to time constraints but so far I'm pretty impressed.
There are some balancing issues that will be sorted out but for now the game is very fun. I've found that standard RTS games have just gotten tedious and monotonous. War3 introduces a very low unit count and heros, which add an interesting level of play. I find that games go quite fast averaging 15-20 minutes at most much of the time. The longest game I played was 35 min and the shortest (I lost) was approx 10 minutes.
The problem with games like AOE2 is that by the end of a long game you're so darn tired out you don't want to play again (well I don't), but in War3 it's easy to play a few games back to back.
As things are looking now I'm going to buy it for sure. I was originally not interested in it at all but once I got the beta I realized that it was not just another tired old RTS. Much of it is like War2 of course but I think Blizzard's modifications to play have worked out well.
