Awe, poor baby, Trump's not happy with his defense teams performance supposedly. What? Not enough public oral knob gobling?

Of course he isn't...

This is a situation where I actually almost wish Trump still had a Twitter account, so he could attack his own impeachment lawyer during the live presentation in progress and fill in the argument he actually wants the guy to represent on his behalf.

Because he’s too much of a nutter to understand this wouldn’t help him.

I want to hear one Republican give an answer to the question of whether Biden gets one free coup as long as he does it after losing an election in his last few weeks in office. You gotta love the argument that the impeachment in the house was rushed, but the senate is proceeding without all the information and a full investigation. So basically the president can do whatever it is that he wants after he loses for at least a few months before he leaves office as that’s a dead zone of accountability. Just as intended by the founding fathers .. Riiiiight

Schoen also keeps trying to argue this as if it is a criminal matter and the “Defendant” is entitled to all the same protections under the law as a criminal defendant. That’s disingenuous as fuck. Trump will not be deprived of his “life or liberty.” Only deprived of running for office again.

Senate just held a vote whether or not Trump can be impeached after leaving office, only 6 republican senators crossed party lines to say the trial should continue. So 6 Senators is max that you can expect to vote to convict.
Probably but now we will have a trial. If public sentiment shifts in favor of convicting Trump it will give the republicans the cover needed to do so. I imagine the McConnell republicans never want Trump in power again and will gladly ban him from having that ability if there is no major blowback.

Watching the video and I’m still surprised security didn’t open fire on these traitors. White privilege is the predominant thought going through my head.

Watching the video and knowing that most republicans couldn’t care less about this event is just disgusting.

Because in their demented minds they think what these people did was brave. It was foolish.

So do we think Trumps lawyers are going to go with Lindells excuse for the insurrection?

I turned it off. I mean, I'm bored at work, and I'd rather watch Dodo videos of rescued dogs in 3rd world countries. This guy for the defense is a snooze-fest, and saying absolutely zero of anything relevant to the defense.

rescued dogs? If the impeachment is boring you and you need entertainment, might I cross-post this from a tragically ignored @Iron Woode thread from OT, earlier today (yesterday?) ...really, that should have just gone in the JHC thread, but anyway:

Did any of you watch the argument from the House dems then listen to Trump's lawyers? It reminded me of that scene in Monte Python's the Meaning of Life where a pro rugby team is playing against the pee wee league and literally trampling them, stomping them into the dirt. It was a master class presentation versus what may well be the most incompetent defense I have ever seen.

Bruce Caster babbled for 32 minutes before making a single argument in defense of Trump. For 32 minutes we heard how great and auspicious it was to be a Senator, how Senators are "extraordinary people" and on and on. WTF?

Anyone who's on the fence about this really needs to see it.

You can't help but feel bad for Trump. With the tragic death of Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, he really has no one that could mount the only type of defense that would serve him well.

I remember the people that thought Senate conviction had a chance because of "leaks" that McConnell was in favor of it. I said nope, McConnell is Machiavelli reincarnated.
I don’t think Mitch McConnell is particularly smart or capable, he just has a senate map that’s heavily biased in his favor so he’s free to do unpopular things.

This is actually a good example of that, in the immediate aftermath of the insurrection I think Trump really would have been convicted or close to it had they held the trial that day. McConnell knew this too and so he hedged his position. After the anger at Trump cooled Mitch fell back into line.

I was expecting razzle dazzle song and dance from Trump's lawyers-turned-dumb-strucked-dummies and all I got was fizzle-frazzle flop and drop from those two F-listers.

I want my two minutes back. The only thing I liked about their double dribble was the fact that they really pissed off Trump and he didn't have a way to express himself in a twitter tantrum.

Apparently they are going to reveal new footage from the insurrection that has not been shown before today. Wondering if someone's been busy parsing all that Parler data
