Come on America. We all know exactly what is happening here, and happened on January 6th. Crafty lawyers can not gloss over what we all seen for ourselves on January 6th and with our own eyes. This is a perfect example of how repeating nonsense and the constantly badgering of a witness can cause that witnesses to question what that witness indeed witnessed. It’s more of a mind game we are seeing here, and the reason why a 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the sea is considered a good start. 👍

In one more final disgusting act of the day the senate gave the officer that helped save people’s lives, the very people in that chamber, a medal. Almost half of these people will then vote to acquit trump. If I was officer Goodman I’d give the medal back and tell those that voted to acquit trump dishonored him.

It’s interesting, the amendment provides for Congress to “remove the disability” but doesn’t state how it is determined that someone engaged in insurrection in the first place.

I'm assuming presumably, Congress would pass a resolution finding that he had engaged in insurrection. Trump would challenge it in the courts and it would be up to the SC to decide?.
Section 5
The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

So the question really is, what is appropriate legislation to enforce section 3 of the amendment?

McCarthy, what a leader.

The ex-president and the leader of the House Republicans became embroiled in a heated exchange as Mr McCarthy called and begged Mr Trump to intervene, according to CNN.

When Mr Trump told the lawmaker that the rioters were actually antifa, Mr McCarthy bluntly told him that they were in fact a MAGA mob.

“Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are,” replied Mr Trump said, according to lawmakers briefed later by Mr McCarthy.

That's what they should have done to start with. Far higher chance of success and the same effective outcome than if he had been convicted in impeachment. It has the added bonus of taking a lot less time than a trial, which is eating up the Dem's time that could be spent legislating. If I were mitch, I'd be trying to drag and drag this trial on for as long as possible for that very reason. Biden still hasn't passed the stimulus checks, which he promised would be done in his first week. The people in Georgia are feeling betrayed and watching the Dems debate impeachment for a former president when they sorely need relief plays right into the Republicans' hands.

this is about being able to play video of what happened and the senator or representative whomever is running for office saying not guilty or it doesn’t matter or whatever makes them look weak and unappealing.
There is some value outing these turds for what they are.

How about.

The radical left pushes progressive ideas on how the government should function.
The radical right listens to and believes anonymous people on the internet and pushes wild conspiracy theories.

When it's all said and done, the (R)'s will NOT vote to convict Trump...and he's just gonna waltz away...

Hopefully he'll do the Texas two-step into a courtroom eventually. Don't really care if it's tax fraud, bank fraud, paying off a porn star, or insurrection....just as long as it's criminal charges that will stick.

I wonder.... if Donald Trump were to run again in 2024, if any of those Trump loyalist would give pause to enabling a second Donald Trump presidency? While they love Trump, would any of them prefer to pass on enabling a second Trump considering what that first Trump put them through? Is it possible for a Trumpie to tire of toting that barge and Lifting that bale? And would they dare consider what is left of their soul they would be required to sell to the devil to satisfy a second Donald Trump?

"And would they dare consider what is left of their soul they would be required to sell to the devil to satisfy a second Donald Trump?" They already don't have anything left of what anyone would call a soul. I'll offer a quote from Enoc Arnold, " It's best to let the devil go to hell by himself".

This story is insane. No doubt GOP Senators knew about this and are still planning to acquit. Why are they all so afraid of Donald? What does he have on them??

That would be fine with me. Conviction in a criminal court room is far less political than in the Senate...but DOES require a higher burden of proof.
Seeing Donnie the Twice-Impeached in prison orange would make my heart sing...

Do Trump’s lawyers not realize that impeachment is a political process and that the standards it adheres to does not have to meet legal requirements?
I think Trump's Lawyers realize they could perform a juggling act at this point and he'd still be acquitted.

I think it comes down to petty politics. For example, Bill Clinton got off and so they feel that Trump should get off too. And they really do believe it is the same thing for a democrat in congress to say words like FIGHT LIKE HELL and for Donald Trump to use the same words. The fact that when Trump used those words it ended with an insurrection, but that republicans ignore. The insurrection part doesn't matter to republicans, they only care about the words FIGHT LIKE HELL. Or, they pretend to only care.

Of the seven wonders of the world we now have an eight wonder. The eight wonder is how and why Donald Trump loyalist remain so damn loyal? Just think of it, think of all the bullets that Donald Trump has dodged. The Mueller report was castrated by congressional republicans and then by William Barr, then the first impeachment was castrated by Mitch McConnell for not allowing one single witness to appear, and remember too that trump held onto his tax returns keeping them secret, and OMgosh just look at the many weird associations between Trump and shady charters not to mention between shady world leaders that we still have no idea of what actually went on between them and Donald Trump. Yes, Donald Trump has dodged so many bullets and he will most likely dodge conviction. Amazing but all too true.

They aren’t afraid! Just stop with that thinking already! They support trump 100% because they’ve gone all in on the trump cult.

PS. However one thing we democrats can feel good about.... We can now return back to Joe Biden and his agenda. And we can now try to forget about Donald Trump. And we can look forward to the vaccines returning America back to a somewhat normal life. And the Spring and Summer are coming soon and hopefully enough people would have been vaccinated by then that the Covid will be an after thought. And last of all, even thought republicans refuse to admit it, republicans truly know who and what Donald Trump is and what he did in fact do to America. Republicans know of the damage done. At least we have all seen the video and we have all witnessed the crime scene, so we will see how that goes moving forward. How that might affect future elections. Lets see if republicans have any shame, any shame at all.
