Eh, that's probably true but not definitely. How many in the VP's SS detail? 3 or 4 guys? If they had been deluged by a large number of rioters, I'm not so sure. Maybe just shooting 1 or 2 would be enough to deter the rest but maybe not. Some of those guys are fanatics.

This defense is hilarious too. It has absolutely zero to do with the insurrection. Just a bunch of whataboutism.
 
I haven't watched so far today, but if they're playing video of dems employing harsh rhetoric in their speeches, the argument was already refuted by the House Managers. It isn't Trump's speech alone and out of context. It's his entire conduct, the big lie and all the rhetoric leading up to 1/6, as well as his conduct after the violence began. That is why what Trump did caused violence and whatever those dems said did not.
 
If Trump didn't intend for there to be violence, then what was the point of summoning them there on that day? Trump had tried everything else to hold on to power. And he made it clear to the crowd that this was the last chance, that they had to stop the certification. Did he really think a peaceful protest outside the capitol would delay or alter the certification vote? Come on. Only violence could possibly have achieved what Trump desired.
 
Man, I expected Trump lawyers today to invoke whataboutism, which they did, but man, placing that ominous music on top of their video evidence, it's like watching OANN.

I'm trying to find that picture they showed of Jamie Raskin in his office comparing tweets, supposable from New York Times (I think that was the publication). Can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet.. Reason, is most text in a picture on a monitor, specially zoomed in, tends to have a screen door effect.. pretty darn clear picture of the date zoomed in from an angle of a monitor in a photograph.. I just want to verify what trickery took place.. either by the Managers (doubtful, as it all can be verified via twitter).. or Trump's Lawyers.. (suspect they are the manipulators).
 
Do Trump’s lawyers not realize that impeachment is a political process and that the standards it adheres to does not have to meet legal requirements?

It's just as easy to find the texts that the picture portrays. The actual tweets won't lie.
 
It’s like these lawyers are so incompetent that they can’t even properly comprehend the 1st amendment even after having read it. What law is congress passing/passed to limit trumps speech?

When I was watching "video evidence" today complete with that ominous music soundtrack on top of it, I legitimately thought that might be enough to cause another trumper riot.

Look at the facts of the situation. The defense attorneys could say "I'm Attorney xx for 45th President Donald J. Trump. Thank you for coming today and thank you for your attention" and stand silent for the next few hours and they are going to win. Saying anything not patently absurd will just increase their margin of winning.

The Dems handing the GOP a win-win situation. The GOP could get rid of Trump forever and start to rebuild the party. Instead they want to milk Trumpism as long as it lasts (or the USA lasts, whichever ends first).

Power may be the most addictive drug ever.

See my edit.. it was New York Times that did it.. not the Managers.. I posted the actual tweet which was sent on jan 2, 2021.. Which means it is Trump's lawyers who are manipulating and twisting the tweets and lying.
 
Lol because other politicians have said the word fight then that automatically means when trump used the word fight it’s ok and they say this after having told us that context was important to them. Lol
