i'll be glued to the comp when i should be studying organic chemistry. 🙁

I'm already glued to the comp checking more info about the LCD and going back to check on this thread every 5 minutes... and I'm taking mammalian physiology, comparitive physiology, biochemical techniques, and 2 music classes 😱 btw what college you go?

haha same here, i keep coming back here and overclockers and other sites to see what ppl are saying about this monitor. too excited i guess. I go to UT. Taking Organic Chem 1, Cell Physiology, Genetics, and Analytical Geometry. Bio major, up in the air right now as to what area...PreMed, Biotech, Microbio, Forensics. Most likely Biotech 😀

i installed the one that came on the cd, it also comes with 2 color profiles, one for analog and one for dvi.

depends, are they anything like their cars?

Umm...take a look at Hyundai's quality of ownership and reliability records dude, I think maybe then you would want to take back your dig at their cars.

have you ever driven one of their cars? they are horrible... things rattle and you can almost feel the cheapness. the only good things is that they are cheap. you dont hear people talking how they wish they had a hyundai.

I have! My daughter's bought two new, and they are both still on the road and keep on ticking.

The '96 Accent, my son bought from my daughter - he ought to have his ass whipped again as he is constantly neglecting the oil changes - oh, yeh, when he hears it clatter from being out of oil he only drives another three-four days before he puts some in and then takes it in for the change & filter. Never had a wrench to any part of the car. Why it runs so good still when he finally treats it to the 12,000 mile service is anybody's guess.

Her '01 Sonata is a jewell. You can feel the heater in really cold weather in about three blocks; (Korean winters are especially bitter, just ask a vet.) by the end of a mile it blasts out the hot air.

35/mpg, plenty zippy, good-looking, doesn't burn a drop of oil, 100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain, 50,000 roadside assistance, A/C that will freeze you out in the hottest summer, again-never had a wrench on it.

Yeah, Korean stuff is CRAP.
Cars Run & Are Posh.

I'm going to buy it from her when she gets ready to sell it. It's as good as anything else on the road. 😀😀😀

Here is the Hyundai ImageQuest America (HIA) distributor list. No major chains in here but if one of them is close to you, you may be able to price match. I checked BB, CC, OM, OD, and Staples for it and they dont carry it. Fry's/Outpost has it on their site for $399.99 but I am not sure of their pricematch policy.

Just got my L90D+ this afternoon... and it goes without saying, it COMPLETELY ROCKS! Bought it from xPCgear.com. Ordered it Thursday night... shipped Friday.. arrived Monday. Great packaging... no dead pixels... excellent Customer service... totally recommend. Took less then 5 min to be up and running! Just saw the link that CompUSA has this monitor for $339.. that's a GREAT price.. thought I did well with $369.. anyway, best LCD I've used.. Unbelievably bright and the 8ms is one of the fastest Response times on the market for a 19" LCD. If you were like me and waiting and waiting to pull the trigger on a 19"... this is the model.. and that price at CompUSA CAN"T BE BEAT.

Got mine yesterday as well. Although I never owned a LCD before so I can't really compare it to other LCD's, but I can say that this completely blows my old 19 inch CRT away. This is about 3 times as bright as my old CRT, and has much better contrast (my eyes start to hurt around 60% brightness setting, I currently use 100% contrast and 25% brightness). No problems in DVD movies at all, or Alias 😛 Color seems very good, though I think my friend's Dell 19 inch has more vibrant colors.

I tested the response time with counter strike 1.6, in which I always get 100 fps so I can easily tell the difference between my old CRT and this. The image lagging (doesn't look like ghosting though) does seem noticeable, though hardly distractive. It's wierd since my old CRT has ghosting in movies when a bright thing moves in a dark setting, but this doesn't, which probably means that the image lagging is due to this being a LCD and not its ghosting.

I did notice a single dead pixel on the top left of the monitor, but what's wierd about it is that it is only seeable when I am about 6 inches away from the monitor and looking at it from about 50 degrees from perpendicular. I've seen dead pixels on other monitors before, but this doesn't look anything like it, and it's undetectable by my eyes at all sitting on my chair, or anywhere further than 6 inches away.

Overall, a superb LCD with very few flaws for any price; and for under 400 dollars it's flawless.

Quick question... has anyone had any luck having one of these monitors shipped from CompUSA? I'm not getting too anxious, but I placed my order on Friday and it still hasn't been shipped. I'm sure this is just the result of getting "Penny Shipping" from a very large distributer, but was just wondering what results others have had. Looks like I won't be seeing this monitor until late next week, if I'm lucky...

I just ordered two of these from CompUSA...I hope they go through! Penny shipping is nice, though I wish I could just pick 'em up in the store.

Just ordered one from CompUSA to replace my son's 19" Samsung CRT. Being a graphic design major he was reluctant to buy an LCD until he saw my Samsung 710T. The L90D+ picture should be just as good.

How much would I be missing out on if I didn't use the DVI on this? I don't have the money to get the monitor and a video card with DVI, so would it still be worth it to get the monitor if I couldn't use the DVI?

Yes!
I have hooked up plenty of DVI on analog and IMHO, you may miss a barely discernable crispness that if you didn't know it was there, how could you miss it?
(Any good English teacher would wring their hands at that sentence but, it works for me. I just hope it works for you.) 😀😀😀

Edited to say: I also meant that, I'd hooked plenty of DVI capable monitors using analog and they are just fine...awaiting further splendor when the DVI hook-up comes along.

just got this monitor yesterday. it's awesome. using the dvi cable. going to my 9800. one concern. any of you able to install the drivers? i hve no idea how to get them installed off the cd they include. i see the folder and the files but don't know what to do with them. thanks.

EDIT: nm just got them install and it didn't make any difference whatsoever. oh well, haha. it's still awesome. and i just removed that ring from the back. i was wondering why i couldnt raise the height. 😱

Just fell into this thread 3-4 minutes ago. Pretty impressed. I've had a Planar PX191 for almost 1.5 years and been wanting to add a second LCD for dual display, but the prices for the PX191 haven't really come down. Every time I see a cheaper 19" LCD, it seems crummy compared to my PX191, but this one looks like it might be different:

1. The surround is small, similar to my PX191.

2. The contrast ratio rating of 700:1 is same as my PX191's.

The faster response time seems like an added bonus. Do you think they might match well? Newegg is showing OOS and $410 right now + shipping of $12, BTW. TIA for opinions.

Seems a bit bright to me.
Looks very nice

You definitely want to download (free!) NEC/Mitsubishi Brightness Controller. After 2 years or so they are still with version 1.0, but it works perfectly. I use it all the time with my 19" LCD. It lets you control your brightness with your mouse on a slider that pops up when you click a tray icon. A checkbox is there to turn it on and off. One of the best things about it is that it only affects general computer stuff. It has no affect on any video you are doing with your display. Generally, when video is turned up bright enough, the general computer stuff is too bright. That's the presumed main function of Brightness Controller, however even when not doing video, it's much easier to control brightness of general computer activity using this utility than adjusting the monitor itself (which I keep adjusted high enough for satisfactory video). You don't need an NEC or Mitsubishi monitor for this to work. It works with CRT's too. In fact, I found out about it because of my NEC 22" CRT (which is for sale, BTW!).
