I'm using analog right now with the monitor, and it looks perfectly clear to me. The video card I'm using is a matrox g450. Since the Matrox cards are known for having great 2D quality, I don't know how a different card would look.

I wan't to try a DVI card just to see if there is a difference.

I have my 19" Planar PX191 LCD hooked up to both the analog and DVI from my PC. I prefer to use the DVI, but I can't say I see a difference. I've never gone, "hmm, that doesn't looks so good, think I'll switch it to DVI." I can't say I detect a difference. I've looked closely at the sharpness of text, and maybe I've seen a difference. I thought so, but like I say, analog is so good, the difference is slight to the degree that I do not notice a difference in usage. I've got a ti4600 video card.

What really matters is that you use native resolution, which for all the 19" LCD's I've seen is 1280 x 1024. I like 1280 x 1024 and that's why I like 19" LCD's. I haven't used a bigger or smaller, but figure I'd prefer 1280 x 1024, so that's why I got a 19".

Well, Newegg is in California. Is ChiefValue also in California? IOW, will I have to pay CA state tax, being as I reside in CA?

yes... if a reseller distributes product in the state in which you reside, you will have to pay whatever your county tax rate is... ChiefValue is located in CA

Edit: Oh, you're right, it says you enter a taxrate if shipping to NJ, PR, TN or CA.

Just to let you all know... the L90D+ has mysteriously disappeared from CompUSA's website. It's not even listed as not being in stock, it's just not there at all. My order still says "Open" and hasn't been shipped, after four days since placing the order.

EDIT: According to the users on Overclockers, there appears to be some confusion at CompUSA whether the advertised monitor is even the monitor that is shipped. No one has received a unit from CompUSA yet, but CompUSA lists the manufacturer's number as the old L90D, not the L90D+. CompUSA reps have told customers that they can cancel their orders if they want, but they may still be shipped the unit and will have to pay shipping charges to return the unit if it is not the unit that they ordered. I've submitted a customer service response as well, and will update this when I get a reply.

As posted on overclockers. They've got a $50 instant rebate off of $389.99, plus penny shipping to boot. Tax is still included, but all in all, the cheapest I think we'll see for a while. I cancelled my other order last night to save about $50....
Evidently not available but the link works and you can put it on your "Wishlist" after registering, which I did. Does that mean they email you when it is available?

Typical CrapUSA!

Standard seems to be 1024x768 on the 15" & 1280x1024 on the 17" & the 19".

yup

Those of you who have this:

Can you raise and lower the screen? My Planar PX191 has a column that the screen can be adjusted on up or down at least 4 inches worth. If I do a dual monitor with this one, I'd need it to similarly adjust up and down. I know it can rotate, which my Planar does too, but I never seem to use that feature. Up/down is crucial, though. Also, I suppose, you can alter the angle of the screen (IOW, the line perpendicular to the center of the screen and be angled up and down, right? Thanks.

Looks very nice

You definitely want to download (free!) NEC/Mitsubishi Brightness Controller. After 2 years or so they are still with version 1.0, but it works perfectly. I use it all the time with my 19" LCD. It lets you control your brightness with your mouse on a slider that pops up when you click a tray icon. A checkbox is there to turn it on and off. One of the best things about it is that it only affects general computer stuff. It has no affect on any video you are doing with your display. Generally, when video is turned up bright enough, the general computer stuff is too bright. That's the presumed main function of Brightness Controller, however even when not doing video, it's much easier to control brightness of general computer activity using this utility than adjusting the monitor itself (which I keep adjusted high enough for satisfactory video). You don't need an NEC or Mitsubishi monitor for this to work. It works with CRT's too. In fact, I found out about it because of my NEC 22" CRT (which is for sale, BTW!).

That really depends on your video card. After upgrading from Nvidia TI4200 to ATI x800 the problem is completely gone. It also made me realize how much better are ATI cards in general windows apps, even though they're not as good in 3D. I noticed that colors are also more brighter, and black is blacker using the ATI card; although I haven't tested whether that's true in DVI as well (I would presume not so since the general consensus tells me DVI color/text quality is pretty much the same for both brands).

ChiefValue is actually not an affiliate of Newegg. I called and asked them and was told that in fact they're a competitor.

btw, I love Muse (the band) too 😛

There's a big difference between the L90D and the L90D+ If CompUSA is going to ship you a L90D, cancel your order. Anyone who REALLY wants a L90D+ monitor delivered this week, try xPCgear.com I don't work for them.. or even know anyone who works there.. but as I posted earlier, I ordered mine Thursday night... unit shipped Friday... arrived Monday. Excellent packaging (double insulated).. flawless product, and responsive customer service. It was $369 last Thur.. so not sure what it is this week.

Well color me stupid😱

Very interesting that they have the exact same product line up, almost identical prices, almost same photo review pages, ect.

Very strange.

Heh, good luck. They've upped the price-gouging, also - $469 now. Trio International, which I *originally* placed an order with before I saw the CompUSA deal is also up to $449.

This monitor sold like hotcakes, and now everyone is cashing in. CompUSA better deliver; there's going to be a number of upset customers over this one if it turns out it's not just a customer service mistake.

where are those color profiles at?
They are in the same folder as the driver, one or the other will install automatically when you install the driver, depending what connection you are using.

Well, for those interested, both Tigerdirect and Ebuyer are selling the L90D+ for around $389 shipped. Their reseller ratings are around the same as xPCGear. That ends up being only about $30 more than my order from Compusa and may well be worth it to avoid any further headaches.

btw, I love Muse (the band) too 😛

I stumbled into a newsgroup a year or two ago that was devoted to the band, announcing myself as Muse! I explained that this is my handle on the air as my DJ gig at KALX, 90.7 FM, Berkeley (college radio). I play all kinds of music. I played Muse a time or two on KALX after this. I'd heard of them before, but they weren't on my radar. Yes, they sound pretty good. Complex modern British band with a fairly distinctive male singer, IIRC.

I'm really smelling the scent on this monitor. Interestingly if you do a Google search on "L90D+" right now, the third hit is this very thread.

Could somebody please measure the bezel with a ruler and let me know? It looks nice and thin, but I want to see how it compares with my Planar. On my Planar, from the very edge of the bezel to the first lit pixes is less than 13/16 inches, and that's on all 4 sides. Thanks.

Battlefield Vietnam primarily. I guess I was generalizing, sorry! BFV has higher resolutions, but not 1280x1024. It has 1280x960 and that is very distorted. Friends that have 17" LCD's play in 1024x768 and 17" LCD's have the same native resolution as 19"s. I don't know anyone with a 19" LCD, so I am curious what playing games (BFV) in 1024 looks like on one. Hopefully BF2 will have 1280x1024, even though it will take a state of the art video card to run it decent at that resolution.

With Nvidia 6 series cards you can tell it to center the signal undistorted on your LCD.

1280x960 has very thin black bars at the top and bottom of the screen in BFV and BF1942 ... but is undistorted.
