Don't get a pet or a plant or anything stupid like that. Just get out with your friends.

:( I just spent 3 months getting over my first real gf (and fiancee) of 4.5 years.

After totally giving up on her and starting to do things with friends and go out with a new girl, I'm feeling about 1 million times better.

Good luck dude

Yeah, this is my fiancee as well. We were together for 6 years and I just proposed last valentine...
I'm sorry to hear that. I think the best things you could do are: work out if you don't already (specifically cardio), get plenty of sleep on a normal sleep/wake cycle if you don't already, and go out with your friends and have a beer. Watching some baseball with buddies and drinking a beer does wonders for the soul.

The reason I say work out is because when I got hurt, running everyday got my mind off her, improved my self esteem by getting more fit, and helped me sleep better at night. All of those made my life much more positive.

Good luck to ya.

Hey, you need a hobby to keep your mind off things right? When she was still living here for 3 weeks after the fact, I had to do something where I didn't have to look at her or talk to her or anything. Movies by myself in the dark with the sound up worked well for me :p

How old are you?

If you are under 18, then it was not a real relationship. You, however will not understand this yet. Once you are older, you will look back, and go, what was I all messed up about?

Unless they started going out when he was 11, then probably not :p

Surround yourself with family and friends.

Throw yourself into school studies, work, etc. anything to keep you busy.

Things WILL get better. Don't question why or how, because you know they'll get better too. It's very easy to complain and worry, but even harder to be positive about the future. Things will get better and you just have to keep your head up. You'll have trouble doing anything you used to do, even eating or sleeping. You need to do what RossMAN has said and surround yourself with family, friends, and keep yourself busy. If you sit around, chances are, you'll get bored and think about things that will get you down.

Gym is great. Keeps your mind on yourself. You know you're doing something productive. Get to check out the opposite sex if you want to. Get checked out by the opposite sex during and especially after going to the gym after a while. I used the gym with a best friend to keep my mind off of a girl and it is excellent.

Edit- Just find stuff to keep yourself busy and things will get better.

My fiancee and I ( 5 years ) split up four months ago, and one thing I found myself doing, that really hindered my ability to move on was keep thinking she would come back to me. If you think that, well, don't. Keep your mind and body occupied. Just do what everyone else here has said. Things get better with every passing day.

Get a bicycle. It will sit there in the corner of the room while the women come and go, whispering, "Come ride me, ride me hard. I'm gonna make you sweat. You like that? Yeah, faster, harder, go on, do it!".

My fiance broke it off with me about 2 years ago. God honest truth, I'm really just now getting over it. Still love her too, but I can't have any contact with here. Way too painful. We had been dating for 4 years, engaged for two.

thanks all of you much for your encouragements. I'll be traveling a lot (for work) in June, hope it'll get better... After that I'll start to hit the gym more often. I have no family here and not many friends around at the the moment. But I'll start looking for some.

Just go out and get a new chick. Preferably try to bring her to places where your old chick hung out so you can make her jealous :)

May I suggested World of Warcraft?

TERRIBLE IDEA. Get a hobby, not an addiction, especially one that's not anti-social.
