For relatively normal flavors, my vote goes to coffee, but I do love some chocolate malt. Malt in anything increases enjoyment.

OP, try Ben & Jerry's "Cookies and Cream". I'm not normally a big fan of the flavor, but theirs is great and close to 'chocolate malt'.

When I was young living in California there was a drug store called Thrifty that sold over the counter ice cream. I always got chocolate malted crunch.

Now I don't eat ice cream. I'll have a Moolatte from Dairy Queen or a shake, but that's about it.

Only ice cream I like is a specific few of the Ben and Jerry's. For the most part, I've never been an ice cream fan though I do like those orange cream thingies. I like the grape ice sickles but other than that I don't care much for most any ice cream in general.

Oh man, those are the types I tend to get whenever I'm at some local scoop shop, which is very very rare.

But if I'm eyeing a shake at any ice cream place, unless I'm feeling like trying something else, my default is always, always, a wonderful chocolate malt. Oooo, I feel warm and cozy just thinking of one right now. It's like the ultimate slice of heaven... in shake form. Or a better analogy: ambrosia. Mmmm, ambrosia.
