Any suggestions on a name? I'm also needing a logo created for you photoshop handy people...nothing major. I had made a really nice one for 'DigitalDesigns' but have lost it over the years (been wanting to do this biz for awhile now).

If you start a business like that, you will QUICKLY see why they charge "so much".

The vast majority of people greatly underestimate the overhead such businesses actually have, and think the owner is just making money hand over fist... which, I can almost guarantee you, is not the case ;)

I always find it amusing that people struggle with names before they even write a business case.

Like, have you considered such things as: how you will get customers, where you will operate, what the potential market size is (small town?), how much you will charge, what your costs will be.... and whether this is worth your time?

Because if those things dont check out, your "logo" doesn't matter.

Take a cue from Michael Dell and just use your last name.

But my name is Frank McHogshit!

The "Super Duper Tech Guy" image is getting corrupted thanks to geek squad, firedog, et al. I think your best course of action is going to be keep it simple and keep it personal... give yourself a name someone can feel at home with.

And for the record, you want ATOT to create a branding strategy for you, not a logo. And that sort of thing costs thousands... not $20. Having someone on ATOT create a logo for you will result in you re-doing it in less than a year. And you shouldn't do logos in Photoshop... you should do them in Illustrator.

Well this is just a starter...if it does well, i'll pay for the logo. I can make my own, I've done them for businesses before, i'm fairly handy w/ photoshop. ^_^

any business experience or classes?
business plan with a break even analysis?
good credit and sufficient assets to take a loan against?

I would get these down before jumping into business. you want to reduce your risk as much as possible before any operations begin

For the logo, I've used http://www.designoutpost.com in the past with great success. You basically pool up some money and a bunch of people submit designs and you give feedback and such until you get the perfect one. Then that person gets the prize.
