unbuffered, non ecc. kingston costs $472 smackaroos. gonna do some more searching to find some other shops if i can. =)
and to people that say y get that much ram, blah blah blah, this justs gives him the opportunity to run at max ram in the future. in the future, decide that he will run it as server, and server like lots of ram.
my suggestion to you dguy, is to just survive at 512mb, or if you must just get 2 at 512mb for now. then when 1gb modules get cheaper, sell off your 512, and buy 1gb modules slowly. but if you have the money, go buy urself one stick of 1gb module, then wait for prices to come down, then buy 2 more.
edit: got another one.
directron has a
8.13
its ecc, non registered, samsung. dont worry bout ecc, mostly likely your board does not support it, so it won't use it, will be run as non ecc. its non registered which is imporatant. this is only $200 boners.
what a huge price diff.
edit2: not yourself out on this one.
essential sells sh1tloads of 1gb modules, and also 2gb dual packs, which are 2 sticks of 1gb sticks. their rating is
9.65. i have personally ordered from them, a 4200 last year. good company, they are east coast though i believe. no taxes for cali. =) hmm.. ouch, the non registered kingston comes at $500. kinda high. the registered are like $250. too bad yah can't buy registered.
i have other good sites to check. be back soon.
edit3:
excaliberpc sells non buffered mushkin 1gb sticks for $300. their rating is
9.51. not bad, its mushkin after all.
edit4:
monarch sells some no brand name. check out this page, sells acouple. $250 or so. monarch has a
9.71 rating.
edit5:
tcwo. $250. no brand name. has a
9.64 rating
edit6: im done looking through all the reliable stores in my favorites. i guess the best bet would be the samsungs at directron for $200. or if you want more reliable company, then mushkins at excaliber for $300.
tell us all what memory you bought, and if it actually works.
edit7: read through the other posts more carefully. ohh, didn't know you wanted pc3200 speeds. all the links i gave you are either 2100 or 2700, but no 3200.
i am done. i was curious myself about 1gb modules sticks. now i know.
edit8: looked through the mushkin's site. for me, i would look at three choices. mushkins 3200 for $400, mushkins 2100 for $300, or samsungs 2100 sold at directron for $200. i'd go for the samsung, i don't think a price premiem of $200 more for 3200 and mushkin quality is worth it.
edit9: NEWEGG DOES SELL EM. transcend with samsung chips, 3 types, $250 and up.
newegg. scroll al the way down, pc2100 and pc2700
