I'm the guy that interrupts your dinner with a phone call.

its not as bad as it could be though, so hear me out.

i dont sell anything or ask for donations.
different clients contract with this firm to conduct surveys on the environment and natural resources and sh!t like that. how willing would you be to take a survey if i said it was 3-4 minutes? 7 to 8 minutes? 10-12 minutes?

it's just a part time job, paying my rent and bills at college. will be graduating in may, hopefully with a real job.

Hmm your job sounds easy compared to someone that has to make calls for a collection agency, I'd like to hear those tapes😉

You don't interrupt my dinner, if it's important, whoever is calling me will leave a message 🙂

I have a blanket response now; as soon as the soliciter opens his mouth I cut them off with, "Put me on your do not call list" and then hang up.

I keep track too. If I get another call from the same company later I ask if they know they can be fined $500 each time they call me after I've requested to be put on the do not call list.

I have yet to have a company call me a third time.

thats the only way to never get called again, but dont go telling everybody. 'not interested' only leads to more calls. we would take your sheet out of the stack after you said that. some people think that by being on the government Do Not Call list means we're not allowed to call them. but they're wrong.

how come they're wrong? i know that if you recently purchased something from such a place, you are within an 18-month window where the seller is allowed to contact you -- but how can any company override the donotcall.gov list?

its not a solicitation that involves money like a sales call or donation request. its only a survey. at least thats what they told us.

<sigh> I wish that the 'do not call' list included non-profit calls, such as surveys. They are just as annoying, if not moreso, than commercial calls.

I hate the calls too but I don't take it out on the person that makes them, I know they're just doing their job.

I don't see the point, don't like 99% of people hang up?

i think its like a 75 - 80 % failure rate. it can be significantly more or less depending on length.

if i tell you 'sorry not interested' dont try convincing me.

when i hang up on you, dont take it personally. i just dont care

i always wanted to ask one of you guys:
"hey what's your number?"
"why?"
"i just want to call you when i am least wanted" ahaha...no offence or anything. you know how it goes..

I'm on the national do not call registry, so we haven't spoken 🙂

You've got to put food on the table, I don't blame those who work there. The people who build those companies, on the other hand, deserve to have their fingernails pulled out with pliers and the wounds cauterized with battery acid while watching a lesbian scene starring Janet Reno and Rosie O'Donnel, all while being forced to listen to John Tesh's Greatest Hits at full volume.

I have caller ID, and I'm not afraid to use it. If I don't recognize the number, or if no number is available, my answering machine will screen the call.
