Back when I had an 3800+ x2, 2 gb of ram and a 7800gt, it ran like a dream... no studdering. User error?

4200+ X2, 2GB of RAM, 7800GT, it is not running like a dream. I'm certain its not a user error, some times it will refuse to start all together, and I have to reinstall the patch (1.12) for it.

Consider installing one of the ealier patches first then install the newer patch?

The biggest problems I have with it are:

Red name bug
Sometimes not starting without reboot
Server browser, do something useful (don't refuse to load and servers, or hang for long periods of time when selecting servers)!

Battlefield 2 is a bad game to begin with, every weapon is under powered and every weapon is extremely innaccurrate.

sheik124: the reason your bik videos play stuttery is due to a AGP fast write turned off in your bios settings, I had this EXACT same problem with my old epox 8k3a+ on midnight club 2, you can PM me if you have any questions.

Mohaa is still incredibly fun, I used to be addicted to that game and I still play it once ever few days.

Yes, this problem is EXACTLY what I had with my AGP card, so I would say it's a video setting set to off in your bios... I tried days and days to figure it out, it just turned out to be a stupid bios setting that was off.

At first I thought it was lag cause the server I was on had a high ping (300), but then I joined a server with like a ping of 96 in the server browser, and I had a ping of ~60 in game, and it was still mad stuttering, and missing every other key I typed into the "Say" thing for chat. Special Forces is just about done reinstalling, then its off to install the patch and watch as it magically works again :roll:

runs awesomely for me with mostly med settings and 98% view distance and at the native res of my monitor. Only got a 9800 pro, a gig RAM and a 2GHz athlon. Obviously the problem is with yor system somewhere.

You do realize you can delete/rename those crappy videos and the game will just ignore them? That's what I had to do because they were making the game run too slow. Deleted them, and everything works fine. This is only a lowly 2500+/9600XT/1.5GB. I still get the red name bug, occasionaly, but I got SF as a gift, and have not seen the problem there. (I can't believe you have to pay for an expansion to get a functional game.) And now that damn Euro booster pack is coming. Have they even released a MOD toolkit that isn't bugged to hell and back? Probably don't want to be shown up again (I never bought expansions for 1942, DC was all that was needed). If someone just develops a mod that is better than their crap expansions then they won't be getting money. Too bad it's not about enjoyment of the game any more...

same here with a 6200->6600. have to turn down the shadows, but doesnt bother me any.
