What's the PEBCAM error? Haven't heard that one before.

And if it's time sensitive informaitno, why can't your IT people do it faster? Shoudln't take that long to get it back from the network's deleted items section or from a backup tape unless it's been sent offsite and they have to wait to get it back...

And why do you even have rights to delete the folder in the first place? heh.

I'm an important person!

As for the 1-day deal. The backup has been shipped offsite because of the weekend turnover.

problem exists between chair and keyboard == PEBCAK or alternately, it could be PEBKAC , problem exists between keyboard and chair

but anyway, you can't undelete them, so you have to use the backups. if it takes 2 days to restore, then you need to re-evaluate your restore process. if the info is that time sensitive , you need some other system, whether it is a mirror with read only access to users or something else

Yeah not your fault at all... when you give every sam dick and harry rights to delete everything... this is an eventuality not an accident.

even thought you deleted the folder, i would assume the network admin should be able to restore it. i mean, if that folder was really that important, you should just be straight up with your boss. maybe your boss will chew you out, but after, he'd be on the network admin's ass to restore that folder.

I'm only a user. I don't have anything to do with the network admin.

the data you deleted is time sensitive, why waste more time by trying to come up with an excuse.

Hmm, we allways have 1 backup in the office and another offsite. This way we can quickly restore if necessary and we have a backup incase of disaster in the office...

As for your screwup :p

just be a man about it. "i screwed up, i'm sorry. i'll get all over IT to restore the file ASAP" works well. Don't feel bad, it's guys like you that keep me working..

keep up the good work.
