Hello, I'm in the process on opening a comic book store. But, I'm stuck on one thing. I can't think of what should I name the comic book store.

So, I was wondering if Atot can think of any cool name.

Thanks
🙂

oh. snap.

Sadly, I was thinking along the same lines...where are you located that you can justify opening up a comic store in this day and age?

Stock alot of trade paper backs, & alot of pokemon type cards & you might survive. Every shop I've known has closed down in the last ten years. It would be great if you had success, but the market is just a fragment of what it use to be. Maybe an online store would work.

I hope you're selling stuff besides comics. These days you have to sell other stuff, like board games, rpg's, magic cards etc. to have a prayer of surviving.

Also, you should set up tables and have rpg and board game nights, as well as card game tournaments.

There's a place by me called Jester's Playhouse... They sell comics, RPG stuff, magic cards, pokemon cards... they actually do good business. It's a place where a parent can drop there kid off from school and pick them up at 8. They have tables set up for people to play and have vending machines. Seriously... you can do alright.

Yeah, this seems like the new business model.

Nerd HQ.

I wish they had a comic store by me as I was growing up. My friends would have loved a place to hang out and play some magic cards or video games. of course, a bunch of kids hanging out every day might not be enough to keep a whole business running. good luck though.

Geek Dungeon
Darius Gaiden
The Vulgar Monkey
Starship Nine
Manolios Ugly Ones' 'lectropawn'
(side of town) Haven

lol those are pretty, um, yea...

I don't know how many comics books store are still opened in San Francisco, but when I was growing up in the 80's, there were about 20 comic books store, then around the mid 1990, there were about 4 comics books store here(if you call it that since they sell more of the other stuff than comics).

Comic store is a dying breed. I always wonder what happened to those sad middle age bald men that used to run those comic book store.

Agreed, I don't know a hobby shop or comic book store that hasn't gone under in less than a month.

Not enough of a margin and not enough of a people buy them.

Here around the San Gabriel Valley, CA area, I've seen one comic store recently. There use to be at least 5-6 around my area, but they all closed down several years ago. I'd be interested in knowing what area you plan on opening a comic store.

Agree, but only if you have sufficient start up funds.

We've got a comic book store and a gaming store (card, D&D and other tabletop) in Berkeley and they're doing just fine. Comic book store is just comics, too.
