I'm not getting the W10 WU offer, any clue on why?

Have you verified the 8.1 drivers don't work?

HP doesn't even have Win 8 video drivers for my laptop, in fact, the last update HP put out for video drivers for my particular laptop is 2010. With the generic driver, performance is poor, and display over hdmi doesn't work. And AMD reference drivers don't support Switchable Graphics.

Zodiark, what was the original OS to come with that laptop (better yet, tell us what model it is).

If you laptop came with 7, you most likely will need to take it back to 7 to be able to apply for the upgrade. Based on the date of the latest driver available, we may be going back to Vista, in which an upgrade to 7 may work, but I can't guarantee it, and I don't think Microsoft would either.

Edit: I have a Dell that came with Vista but runs everything perfectly fine when upgraded to 7. As a test, I looked at what an 8 upgrade would do, and some very important drivers would have been lost, with the hardware manufacturer offering no hope of this ever changing.

Glad I ditched the Alienware M11X R1 with switchable graphics for the M11X r3 with Optimus since Dell hasn't updated those drivers in ages and it is in a similar situation with no switched graphics support in nVidia reference drivers. I recall the original AT review downplaying the problem of future driver support.

It's an HP Dv7-4285dx. Originally, it came with, and currently is using Windows 7. On another hdd, I have a Win 8 install, but HPs video drivers do not function properly. I get hardware acceleration on the Intel IGP, but I lose the Radeon entirely, and the dual display function with it.

Yeah, looks like they never released drivers beyond the OS it came with. A little on the rare side, but unfortunately, totally in their ballpark to do so.

I don't think AT anticipated a gaming PC OEM outright abandoning a popular model like that.

Got my reservation today too. I had to search around and find a different batch script that enabled the icon for me. I had it installed but it would not launch. This is different than the other script that runs and checks.
