I'm making a list of stuff for college, what're some things I wouldn't think of?

I would get a lighter, the kind with a long handle. Matches are a pain to use.
Bug spray
Frisbee
To go with the iron, a spray bottle for water and a can of starch
Sponge and dishwashing liquid and towel to dry dishes off with.
Insulated coffee mug with spill-proof top.
Paper towels.

Do you like to cook? I would cook a few meals (real meals, like you might cook for a significant other) before you leave and keep notes of everything you use, including utensils, colanders, pots, cutting board, etc.

That's about all I can think of now, you don't necessarily need this stuff before you go but it all comes in handy.

Condoms. :)

Buying condoms to take to college is not a good idea. They give them out for free once you get there. Might as well save some money.

not if you have to special order... free ones just dont cut it

Exactly, you get what you pay for.

I think he was commenting on the size of them.

Fake ID, and a source for obtaining them ---> INCOME!! :D (j/k)

I'd bring a first aid kit and lots of drugs. People will love you.
Towels, lots of towels.
Extra sheets

Most important:

TONS AND TONS OF QUARTERS! Bring like $100 of quarters in a sack with you. You can never have too many. Trust me.

Remember that dorms are usually very very small. Cramped. Crowded. Little space.
This means that you should not bring ANYTHING that you even MIGHT not use. If you need it bad you can buy it or have your rents send it to you.
Most of the stuff you bring will end up sitting in a box all year taking up precious space in your tiny little room.

edit: I do second the suggestion of quarters though. To a college student, quarters are worth their weight in gold. You will be everyone's hero if you will make change for them too.

I know, space is at a premium (a little less because i got a very nice sized room). I'm planning on bringing only the essentials, but I don't know quite what they are yet.

Just buy when you need...or get it shipped. You won't know what you're gonna need until you get there. I remember before I had to move into the dorms, the first day, I got home at 5 AM drunk as sh1t, had nothing together, proceded to unplug my cmoputer, my stereo, and all my clothes and toss them into boxes, I already had a laundry basket, flip flops, detergent, alarmclock, I just went to my room and jacked everything I'd need. I didn't sleep at all, tossed everything into the car and left for school at 7AM..arrived at 9AM still drunk. My parents looked at me all crazy...cause I was passed out drunk all the way up there. Since then, its become tradition to pack drunk...seems like everytime either after christmas break or after summer break, I arrive home at 4 or 5 drunk as sh1t cause we all have to party together 1 last time, and then throw all my neatly folded clothes into a bag or something and haphazardly toss stuff into my car. Get like 3 hours of sleep and take off.

If you have limited space, do you really need the stereo? You have your computer. My roommate brought a stereo to college and it went virtually untouched because he had his computer. Save yourself the space and make good use of your computer.
