I'm loving our new deck/grill

Got home at 5:30pm yesterday, fired up the grill, and threw on a couple of filet mignons from Costco. Sat out there for another couple of hours by myself and drank 2 great beers and smoked a Cohiba cigar. It doesnt get better than this.

Tonight, I'm grilling ribs. Wednesday, it's chicken/jalepeno sausages, and thursday it's sirloin burgers

I know the feeling. We just bought our house this past January and now that the weather is getting better, I've been loving hanging out on my deck in the backyard grilling up some meat and drinking beer.

I suspect you'll be grilled before this question is answered. 😉 We just gave in and replaced our Weber kettle charcoal grill with a gas grill and so far I am happy with it and really don't notice any difference in the taste.

I've cooked over both gas and charcoal and while there's definitely a difference... both taste DAMN GOOD so who really cares?

the poor like charcoal, you can get a whole setup for a few bucks.

LOL, it's funny that I agree with this guy. 😛

Charcoal is messy, why in the world would anyone wants to BBQ with it? I can see if it's REAL WOOD charcoals that it would make a difference in the taste or smell (and that's largely dependent on the kind of wood). If it's just plain industrial charcoal? Yuck!

Speaking of which... I need to make a beef run, can you smell what the Sssnail is cooking for lunch?

I've cooked on both and I prefer gas for ease of use. I can make a smoke pouch with some wood chips and tin foil and put that one the gas grill if I want to add a smoky flavor. Otherwise gas vs grill is just your heat source, not your flavor source.

I hate when people grill something and theres all this carbonized crap on it because they didn't clean it properly prior to use. Do you really think I want to eat something that has junk on it from something you grilled last month? Yuck.

Taste the meat, not the heat!

Since I'm new to the gas grilling do you stick that pouch in between the metal burner covers/heat spreaders and the grids in the back? I read about doing that with wood chips but there is not a whole lot of room in there so I was not sure if that is the way to do it or not.

hell ya OP.

i grilled a couple honey garlic sausages last night. sausage on a bun owns, i love it.

absolutely nothing beats nice weather, cooking meat and having a beer. that's what i work for, over everything - that freedom to go home, relax and enjoy life!

 🙂

Charcoal is for men who aren't men and want to be men and think they're manlier as a result.

While I don't agree with you ... real men finish their stories.

Is it a built in or free standing grill? What brand did ou get?

whats the difference between free standing or built in?.....the tank is enclosed inside

It's a kenmore

I just scrapped my old grill because I'm moving and don't want to take it with me. I get to go shopping for a new one as soon as I figure out where I'll be. 😀 I can't wait!

So charcoal... Can I put a pile of charcoal on the ground, start it with lighter fluid and cook over it??

Does the charcoal container object (grill I guess) matter? Or is it just to look good?

The grill my brother and I built last year. Took us all summer and I thought spring would never get here to use it.

Wow looks nice!

BTW why wait for spring? 😀 Some of my favorite grilling days are when it's snowing outside.
