I'm in absolute love with Opeth

They seem very unique to me, seeing as I'm new to this genre. They don't have that stupid 'angry & screaming for no reason" angst going on. And can't stand dumbass typical 'death metal' kiddies like Insane Clowne Posse and etc..

Ahh.. Opeth. I love their progressive blend of amazing acoustic guitar and heavy change of time signatures. They come across as very artistic and highly technical.

What other bands are similiar to Opeth? I'm afraid when I do get sick of them, I'll be completely stomped with no other music to listen to.

FYI: My primary genre of music is Trance, 90s Hip Hop & Rap (Biggie & Tupac) and Classic rock.

Listen to the band Death. No one can harmonize like these guys.

Yea, I said IPC because they're the stereotypical image I have of death metal in my head. Wearing childish clown crap and acting all tough, impressing HS audience.

I've really never understood the growlers. I can stand screaming and like some of it (Static-X), but growling just isn't interesting or fun to listen to.

I can tell

Seriously though. Congrats on getting into Opeth. They are by far one of my favorite bands. Can't get enough of them. I also listen to In Flames, Soilwork, Bullet For My Valentine, and God Forbid so you might want to check them out too.

I'm waiting til a same band is mentioned more than once by different people in this thread, then I'll deem them as worthy enough to check them out.

Regardless of the growling, a lot of the musicians are extremely talented.

I still can't get over growling even though I have utter love for Opeth. Sometimes I really burst out to laughter by myself while listening to Opeth and say, "Come on now. That isn't a natural human voice. It's not even screaming."

Opeth is brilliant, as I just mentioned in another thread actually, so congrats on the discovery. I also second the Isis recommendation posted above.

Death metal is nothing like that. 😉

I listen to some Opeth, and I'll list some of the more-mainstream music I listen to.

Arch Enemy
Iced Earth
In Flames
Korn 🙂o)
Lacuna Coil
Leaves' Eyes
Mudvayne
Night Wish
Slipknot
Shadows Fall
Some Static-X
Theatre of Tragedy
Tool

what IS ICP anyway? Maybe I should Really listen to them.

-off goes to pandora-

I hope I'm not making a mistake.

[edit]
I just heard few songs of ICP. Umm.. they're not even guitar-like. It's shiitty RAP.

And can we start spelling it ICP, not IPC, or is there some special meaning to the misspelling? 😕

ICP is one of the most racist bands I've ever heard.

Wow, I misread the title. Thought you were in love with Oprah....

I thought the same thing. Even worse, the title of my window is "I'm in absolute love with Opeth - Opera".
