they were right, we don't care. :cookie:

true, we really dont 😉

Congrats and save the $$ to buy your own car. Also save $$ to for a downpayment on a house...can't imagine paying CAD$400 to rent a place. Oh wait, I live in CA

Congratulations!

You might want to ask to have this moved to OT. Not really a P&N thing. It's good news for you, but pretty much everyone else will want it moved.
P&N is my home...everyone knows that.

I don't think OT will care.

What a thing to say! 🙁

Congrats from ATOT, man. :gift:

congrats! i just got my first job a couple weeks ago too, and it feels great.. they don't have a lot of work for me, so make sure to ask around and at least seem to be busy..

Time to buy a house, car and cell phone!😀
woah dude, take your time. Build up a little cash reserve first. (and some credit) Before getting buried in monthly payments.

exactly. be careful. don't spend too much, but do get the bare necessities and a few smaller luxuries 🙂

i got myself a digital camera and an ipod when i got my first job, for example. 🙂

very nice start!!...congrats!!...wish i started at that amount...i was at 41k coming out of college, duno if that was considered better than average for 1998.

Edit: Just signed the agreement today, 56.4k to start, 58.6k in January, and 60.8k upon completion of one year. Also included is 2 weeks vacation for the remaining of 2005 and health/dental/pension.

Looking at cars and appartments as well. (2001 civic seems to be the car of interest, accident = huge insurance)
$450-500 is the going rate for an appartment...fully furnished, 1 bdrm, etc.

flippin' GREAT job & outlook! CONGRATS!!! 😀

Buy an awesome house...the car can wait if it needs to. The fun-factor of a house long outlasts a car that immediaitely becomes dated.

Yes you do. There's no such thing as a free lunch. You are paying for that health care in some form or another.

wow....thats nice stunt...I think you win out REALLLY well, especially if you are getting 44K USD and paying 400 CAD for an apartment....

sure beats starting 45k in California here, and paying ~1000-1300USD for an apartment!

Big grats!

My first job out of college as a CIS tech was $32,000 a year. Today I make much more than that, but that is besides the point.

Great starting salary! Good luck in your new job!

but i must warn you that tax will be about 1/3 of that. it would be nice if you don't have loans.
i have a friend starting soon for a very well known consulting firm, making 54000+bonus a year. but after he pays taxes, rent, car and loan etc etc, he will have exactly 13 dollars left/month
