I'm going to have knee surgery

I've had both knees scoped, the left twice. Doc said I had the knees of a 70 year old and that was 4 years ago when I was 40. If I needed to run for my life, I'd end up dying, as I can't really run now. He doesn't want me getting knee replacement surgery yet because of my young age, so Orthovisc shots every 6 to 12 months. Go in for my second of three rounds Friday.

I had a choice of rehab or knee surgery when I twisted the knee while playing softball.
Growing up in hockey country and seeing what surgery did to the pros, I opted rehab.

Laid up for a couple of weeks and on crutches for 6 weeks afterwards.

Knee is now close to 95% functional (military evaluation); only have a twitch of pain once in a while when on stairs and under load.

While technology has gotten better, I would recommend to ensure that only cleaning/scraping is being done. Repair work only if really needed.

I have good knees. Anyway... I'm not the surgery type. I had minor surgery once on my balls for torsion. That would turn anybody off surgery. 😛

Both cherries still reporting for duty, incase you googled it.

Judging by your avatar it seems like you just played basketball a lot? That is very difficult on your knees and ankles. From sharp turns to landing hard after dunks. I feel for you.

On my greatest day I could barely touch the rim. But yes, I loved playing it as well as football. But it's the years of squats that probably did the most damage.

K, i figured you were the one dunking but I guess not!!

Be sure to Double-dose the Flintstones Chewables a few days before hand to help with recovery
good luck with the upcoming surgery 🙂

WD-40 that shit.

ps, best of luck you troll.
(for mods, trolls are what us yoopers call people from the lower peninsula of Michigan)

Have you been practicing hopping on one foot? Or did you say you were gonna do both knees?

Cause, if you are good at balancing on one foot and hopping on one foot, that is a way more awesome way to get around vs crutches (though I agree much more impractical)

Do the shots work for you? I had a 3-shot round of Synvisc about 7 years ago...IMO, totally worthless. I got more relief from the corticosteroids mixed with the "novacaine" my pain management doc he injected into the knee...and that only lasted a couple of days.

I hurt my knee nearly 20 years ago playing football. I never got it fixed because it was an on again off again issue. Over the past few months its been really bad, so I finally saw an ortho.

The diagnosis was pilca syndrome with patella maltracking. Basically nothing is torn, I just have some things that get irritated when they get used a lot.

I go in on the 30th for surgery. I'm pretty excited at the possibility of not having to deal with the pain anymore.

Make sure they know what they're doing.

My left knee got operated on in April. I went in for cartilage reshaping, left cutting out plenty of my plica. I'm worse off now than I was going in. I don't recommend it. I now apparently have plenty of micro-tears in my patella tendon. This fucking sucks.

Have them replace it with a real sexy looking knee. Trust me...it'll be totally worth it.

It helps in hitchhiking, which will prolong the life of the other knee.

Just one.

Its not something that should require crutches. I will have to go up and down stairs, so I will be screwed on crutches. My goal is to only use a cane.

If it ends up that I can't do stairs, I'm going to end up missing a ton of work.
