Just a little salt. Anything else gets placed on the bun
though at times i like to add worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and crumbled bacon.

I humbly disagree with Alton Brown on this.
I couldn't imagine making burgers without at least worcestershire sauce (plus salt/pepper)
it's a little meatloaf-y, but I also like adding in some milk/bread into the ground beef. and if I'm making bacon cheese burgers, I'll usually cook the bacon first and save a couple strips to crumble into the ground beef as well.
but just ground beef + fire always tastes pretty flavorless to me.
while I've never stuck fire directly into my mouth, I'd imagine it's pretty flavorless.Grill is not hot enough. Heat = flavor
Not even any salt?
That is a bad recipe. 😛
I don't personally like salty things, but there is definitely a 'proper' level of salt, at which point the food tastes orders of magnitude better. Meats need salt.Salt is an acquired taste. I never add salt to anything other than a tiny bit in some baked things (bread), and a little bit on steak.
Wow. People need recipes to make a hamburger?! I think I said in another thread that I had almost zero need for recipes; and recipes in my family are handed down by showing how to make things; measuring cups not needed or used. But now, I can see why people need recipes written down.
Here: I'll type up the recipe handed down in my family for making hamburgers:
Grab a hunk of raw hamburg, press into patty shape. Cook.
Do you need a youtube video or something??

The trick to good burgers is it can't be lean.
Get extra lean ground sirloin, and mix it with a high fat ground chuck.
The next trick is making sure that your grill is HOT before putting the patties on. Don't just put the grill on the heat and throw burgers on it - it needs to be hot enough so as soon as you put the meat on, it is sizzling.
The last trick is to only flip the patties once, and never press down on them.
someone posted a article where guy tested the ide of flip once. it came out that flipping often cooked both sides evenly and you still got the "crust".
flip as often as you want. just make sure both sides get the same amount of time.
Use extra lean ground turkey instead of beef, it tastier and juicer.
Put a depression in the middle of the raw patties. Collagen in the beef shrinks at ~185 degrees F and forms a band around the outside (where the beef cooks first) and that is why everyone always cooks round burgers at home instead of the nice flat ones you get in restaurants.
Hmm...
Now that I think about it, that was steaks where you only flip once. With burgers, just don't press down on them. I suppose flipping a burger often actually might make it juicer, much like a rotisserie chicken helps keep the juices from dripping out.
yeah, sounds like OP is making a meatloaf minus bacon and ground pork.
Recipe 1:
Sometimes i make my own Shawarma burgers.
Meat :
I buy chicken (from the butcher) or lamb meat, sometimes use beef but it taste is not so good in comparison. I use some ready made Shawarma herbs in a little bottle or plastic container. This can be bought in the store.
Spice the meat first with the Shawarma herbs. Knead the meat and the herb together. Then slice it up in small pieces or just make a burger from it, best is a thin burger with large surface area. That makes for easy grilling, or baking or bbq.
Whatever meat you use, fry or bake the meat at high temperature just enough, that the outside is not burned and that the inside is good done but still has a good bite. But do not bake it so long that the meat turns into charcoal.
Vegetables :
Tomato and lettuce and a little bit of red onion sliced.
Slice the tomato's and the lettuce and the red onion in small pieces.
Bread:
Then what is needed is bread like a bun. Slice in a way that it forms a pocket shape. To put in the vegetables and the meat.
Sauce :
Get some garlic.
Get some milk.
A half a teaspoon of sugar.
Diet version or low fat mayonnaise. Yogurt based mayonnaise works very well.
Crush the garlic with a garlic press into little pieces, then fill a small bowl (300ml) with it. Add the yogurt based low fat mayonnaise. Use a spoon to mix it together. Then use a little bit of milk to dilute. Mix more with the spoon. Add half a teaspoon of sugar. Mix it with the spoon until it becomes an evenly mixed sauce.
Fill the bun with the meat, add the sliced vegetables and add some garlic sauce... Use some fresh orange juice with it... ^_^

Lamburger? Chicken Patty?
Recipe 2 :
Meat :
Use beef.
Get some Oregano herbs.
Spice the meat with Oregano herbs and a little bit of basil (basilicum).
And a little bit of parsley. Knead the meat and the herb together and make it a burger with a large surface area. Whatever meat you use, bake or grill the meat at high temperature just enough, that the outside is not burned and that the inside is good done but still has a good bite. But do not bake it so long that the meat turns into charcoal.
Vegetables :
Tomato, and lettuce and a little bit of red onion sliced.
Slice the tomato's into parts and the lettuce and the red onion in small pieces.
Bread:
Then what is needed is bread like a bun. Slice in a way that it forms a open fold shape. Add in the vegetables and the meat.
Sauce :
Use ketchup and low fat or diet mayonnaise. Yogurt based mayonnaise works very well.
Instead of mayonnaise and ketchup, one can also use satay sauce.
Use some fresh fruit juice with it... ^_^
Bon appetite...
This is Meatloaf on bread.
Can't get better than 2 lb ground beef, 1 beaten egg, bit of breadcrumbs, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt & pepper.
How does that sound? Anything else?
